I'm a newbie on this forum and have a question. I just got some cigars from the Free Fall Auction and at check out there was a substantial charge for Excise Tax and sales tax. I live in Ohio and stopped purchasing from some online suppliers due to extra fees. I have purchased from Cigar Place in the past and didn't have the extra charges except for shipping. Did something change?

I recommend calling customer service and asking them if they know who you are.

Then tell them “Nevermind, I’m not ZRX”.

How long before we have to purchase from offshore to avoid taxes and fees?

you can blame Obama and crew. and smaller cigar places don't follow the rules like the larger ones that are on tax crooks radar have to

Actually you can blame Trump, or more likely your state government. The excise tax for Ohio went into effect in October 2019. Not sure when CBID started collecting it.

Cbid and International started charging state excise. Some other big sites have fallen in line too. The gubmint went and ruined another good thing.

And while I happen to currently reside in Indiana, Go Buckeyes!!!

it's mostly noticeable when you are buying a large number of cigars...

you take the time and effort perusing the selections on the site.....picking the blends you want in the quantities you want...adding this...deleting that...then you go to checkout and BAM...state taxes...I usually roll over like a chump because of all the trouble I've gone thru to make a perfect cigar purchase...

what's a few extra bucks? ...gotta pay for the highways, airports, postal services and security...
