Use the scroll down bar on the left of your screen. I used mine and found the thread quite easily.

If I had to guess I would say its because a competitor was named by name. Of course then I would have figured that the thread would have just got yanked.



I received a catalog from said competitor in the mail and until then had never heard of them. Anyone know how I got on the mailing list? Did cigar international sell my info?

I was as guilty as any for having mentioned a 'competing' brand by name ... I'd never have done so with the intend of lauding them or singing praises but frankly, inasmuch as I was disparaging the name, no thought of the rules even entered my poor ol' skull ...

I am well aware of the rules and have always thought I complied both with the letter and the spirit of those rules, but my apologies to any whose toes I may have stepped on ...

My impression of what a "Forum" was about was for people to inform other people of mistakes made in the past. Never once did I or anyone else mention anything about buying anything from another website. I think that the thread being closed is completely uncalled for.
The purpose of the topic was to HELP people by others saying what the worst cigar they ever had was.....Does cigarbid possibly sell some of those mentioned cigars? I'm interested to hear an explanation from a "higher authority".
FYI Eveyone---This is twice in two days that cigarbid has dissapointed me. Allow me to explain- I live in Allentown, PA, which is about 2 miles away from Bethlehem, PA. (Home of Cigarbib and CI). I am a regular customer of the CI retail store. I sent an e-mail and asked cigarbid if I was able to pick up my winning bids at their retail store to save on shipping charges. I explained that I would most likely bid on more products if I could save on shipping charges. BIG FAT NO! $4.00 to send a package 2 miles?

Read fast---this will probably be deleted as soon as it goes up. I'm sure they only want good things posted in here about them.

You have to put yourself in Cigarbid's shoes. If they let you pick up your smokes they have to let everyone else. Also they have a few bucks built into the shipping price to help with the bottomline. A good many deals on here don't go for MSRP and my guess is a good many go for less than what CI/Cigarbid has in them.

But I feel your pain. I bought almost $2000 worth of goods from Cigarbid last week and asked to have them shipped 2nd Day or Next Day air. I really wanted to get my hands on some of the stuff quickly and a good bit of it was for friends. But they said no shipping exceptions even for an order of that size.

In the end, how can you complain though? The shipping price is reasonable, they prepare the packages fast, the customer support is top notch, and you can find some great bargains.

While I share your sentiment that it's a big price and too much time for such a short distance, think of the task from their perspective ... "special" handling requires an unusual effort ... from your perspective, it may seem a very minor effort, but from theirs, it is not at all likely to be that minor. I've been in a place where we sent out only a fraction of what CI/CB does and a special handling case such as that you define would've been a real pain in the a$$ ...

Probably less than 10 threads have been yanked in the last 2-3 years. Sometimes we get complaints, other times the thread has run its course, other times it's gone off topic, other times the topic becomes focused on a competitor(s). The forum is here for the benefit, education or entertainment of all us cigar guys, but not here to promote other sites even if unintentional.

cooldude - as far as special handling or picking up shipments: As a customer I'd probably think it seems ridiculous too. But CBID depends on automation to survive. By processing the number of orders we need to ship on a daily basis, it halts the whole system to manually pull 1 order out of the stream and make sure it gets handled separately. I know - the customer is always right, but to offer more and more lots every day, process the orders, consolidate many of these into weekly shipments, and get them packed and shipped as fast as possible (some of which close under cost - yes I've read about overbidding, but believe me, "underbidding" is a bigger problem from our perspective! 🙂, we need to be as efficient as we can to stay in business. Anyway, that's why it's called an online auction. Imagine asking an online site like priceline to stray from its policy on something. Besides, come visit our store!

plabonte: sell your info? Hell no. Catalog companies do new customer prospecting all the time. Probably a coincidence.

cigarbid gets most of there product from ci ,i have used other bid sites and they all so use ci from what i can see, I hope this use fool .

dweiss -- Cigarbid is Cigars International. Of course they are going to auction their own product.
