Hey Andy,

I was informed that youshould not do a salt test on the digital hygrometers.

interesting,

but I am pretty confident that the salt test will be OK.

Perhaps the warning is to prevent salt from getting into the works....which could happen with a sloppy salt test.

Let me know what yours reads during the salt test. I was getting irritated, so I went to my local B&M and forked out $30 for a Western Caliber III. It says it is calabrated at the factory to +- 1%, and not to do any salt test on it. I have all three sitting in my humi with 70% beads. This is what they read.

Radioshack 73%

Don salvatore 59%

Caliber III 65%

Analog on front of Humi 65%

I don't know where my humididty is.....

I have another desktop humi, and a tuperadore I am trying to regulate, I dont know which one to beleive.

Later,

Brock

crap, I'm sorry Clyde.

I thought I let you know....must have been on another thread.

YES....it appears to be working...I checked it with a salt test and it read 74%.....close enough.

Thanks Again.

I may be a newbie but I seen to have read a few places that hygrometers dont work...pretty obviously from all those funky readngs... and the best test is feel of the cigars....See Cigar magazine winter 2005-2006 page 128. But the whole article beginning on page 121 is very informative...
