It suddenly hit me tonight. There was a TV bio of Betty White my wife was watching. I wandered thru the room just as Ed Asner was talking about his friendship with Betty. I rushed back to my computer and checked out those herf shots in picture post. Yes, there between JJ and Charlie sat Ed Asner! Suddenly the radical left diatribes all made sense: Ed Asner is Rick's stage name! Just like Alexander Archibald Leach was Cary Grant and Marion Michael Morrison was John Wayne. I am calling The National Enquirer right after I post this! We have a celebrity in our midst! Rick, I want an autographed glossy!

Todog, I understand the resemblance. But Ed/Rick is alive, and Edmund Gwynn has been dead for 40 years and probably does not look at all like Ed Asner now.
