The SciFi Channel is making a miniseries based on Dune Messiah and Children Of Dune. I thought their Dune miniseries was far superior to the 80s theatrical release.

Man, I like David Lynch and all, but I don't know what he was going for when he made the Dune movie. Hopefully Sci Fi will do a better job.

The Dune books were great. I've been consistently dissappointed with the movies.

DISCLAIMER: I'm NOT a Dune fan. BWHAHAHAHAH!!!

I saw Dune in the 80's...it SUCKED! The WORST movie of all time! ! !

IMF'nHO of course!

Hope the book/mini-series is/was/are better for you sci-fi heads...it'd take a LOT of convencing me to bear the boredom of revisiting that horrible movie.

Better yet E, just skip the movies completely and read the book. The first book, that is, the one titled Dune by Frank Herbert. If you feel brave and like to wade through a bunch of preachy, wordy blah-de-blah-blah then read the second book. If you get pleasure from inflicting pain on yourself, then read the last four books in the series.

I remember hearing somewhere that Frank Herbert claimed that George Lucas stole alot of his ideas for star wars from the Dune books. Anyone know anything about this. I do see some similarities (Arrakis, the force, etc.)
