We seem to have several movie themes going. How about those obscure or overlooked films that you think have not got the recognition they deserve.

Two of my favorites that get overlooked...

Head Office - An early Judge Reinhold film about big business with plenty of great supporting actors. Danny DeVito, Jane Seymour, Eddie Albert, Don King, Don Novello and Rick Moranis.

We're No Angels - Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, Aldo Ray, Basil Rathbone and Leo G. Carroll in a Christmas film you will never see on the Christmas film rack. Bogies next to last movie is a classic as the "bad guys" are really "good guys".

What was that movie where the guy was "singing in the rain, just singin in the rain" And he was beating the crap out of people? And then he got brainwashed by the gvt? I remember the movie, but not the title.

Then, the movie with Peter Weller where he was a bug killer? And he was snorting his bug powder? Wierd... Can't remember the name.

Or Blue Velvet? Obscure, wierd, but awesome. Dennis Hopper at his best!

Saw Pharlap years ago.

"Nashville," directed by Robert Altman. Great ensemble cast, one of those stories where a bunch of strangers' paths cross over the course of a day, lots of good original country music.

"Our Man Flint," with the late, great James Coburn. Tongue-in-cheek answer to James Bond.

Wizards!

Always was the first flick before Song Remains The Same or The Jimi Hendrix Exp. at the UA Cinema on Friday nights ($1.00!) when I was a young lad.

Man it was smokey in there...I think it was Cubans

"True Romance" written by Quinten Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott. With Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper in a classic sequence,,,,Tarantino as the mob enforcer looking for his cocaine, and Hopper as a retired cop.

If you haven't seen this one, rent it! All star cast with Patricia Arquette in her very best role. Also has James Gandolfini, Brad Pitt, Gary Oldhem, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Penn, and a host of other people in a great ensemble cast. Val Kilmer as "Elvis"!

The Ninth Configuration--very obscure, but profound film with a great role for Stacy Keach and supporting cast. Written and directed by Peter Blatty of Exorcist fame. A movie that asks many deep questions and is also very funny. Well worth checking out.

Smoke Signals--One you've probably walked past endless times in the video store without even noticing. A wonderful gem with a deep message.

Out of the Past--excellent film noir.

Requiem for a Dream--heavy, intense themes, not for the easily bothered, but some tremendous performances.

Dead Reckoning--a rather obscure Bogart picture, but a very entertaining film noir.

The Quiet Earth--cool sci-fi picture made in New Zealand.

Delicatessan--off-beat French comedy that is hysterical in its dark humor.

The Wages of Fear--fantastic, suspense-laden French picture set in South America.
