I'll take this opportunity to ask for some civility, if you please. When people post to this board and don't like a cigar there seems to be the need to swear at it instead of describing its qualities and what it is similar to. As if the level of criticism is an expression of one's good taste.
Let's face it. Most people in the world think that cigars smell bad. If you're waiting for a consensus to deicide what is good you'll wait forever. As the Russian's say "In taste and colors there are no comrades". Everybody's olefactory machine and palate works a little differently. There may be some different chemistry at work, in a literal sense.
So here's a couple from my list that I don't like but with an effort to be helpful:
Ghurka - well balanced classic tobacco taste. There are none of the modern style nuances. Strong top notes favored the center of my nose. To me it was quite strong. So far so good but also they make me queasy. If given another I would, probably, try not to smoke it. And what justifies those prices?
Macanudo - beautifully and consistently constructed with an elegant feel to the wrapper. There is an open and gentle bouquet which is far to weak for me. There are other mild cigars that I do like but I would pass up these even at lower prices.
Torñao Exodus 59 Silver – Corona – I did not like this cigar. It was smooth and open with balanced fullness. The promotion says it is a vintage variety which would account for the smoothness. The first inch was a bit too mild then, despite its medium strength, it tended to make me sick. This repeated itself three times. I’m sure others would like it a lot.
