A firewall would most likely be set to block anything from a particular site or any URL with a specific tag like fantasy. If they did not want you in Cbid they would block that. Does this happen with all photos? Have you checked your browser settings? I run NT at work and XP at homa and have never had a problem viewing a pic from Cbid.

But your NOT running Win2k. I know they are the same platform but it seems that Win2k machines can not disply some of these pics. I've gone so far as to have SeaCoast email me the pics. I can download them no problem but when I go to view them, it says that the file is corrupt or invalid. I have tried to view them using four different software apps. So it's not a firewall issue. I'm still trying to figure out what could cause this issue in Win 2k.

Hey Seacoast,

You better find a lighthouse to steer you out of these stormy seas. Some guys are getting sea sick from going back and forth. lol

good luck

...man alive, sounds like i have caused a lot of unnecessary stress. I grabbed the pic from the web, thought we would all get a laugh from it. From the comments, we no doubt have a fair share of computer experts among us. I know my cigars but when it comes to computers, i'm like a fifth grade girl trying to fix a Ferrari. well, not exactly but almost. lol.

KC, am I doing something wrong when i post them? Is there anything i can do in the future to make sure I am doing it correctly? From reading your posts, it sounds like my pics are the only ones you have had difficulties with... that's the part i don't get. I am open for instuction if you have any.

thanks, Steven

If it's just a .jpg file I would think we'd all be able to view it.

Seacoast - there is nothing you can do. I'm still looking on the Microsoft site to see why Win 2k has problems viewing .jpg's. Whats weird, it's only the ones you post. I can see everything else on the pic post except yours. And there is no "unnecessary stress" LOL. I'm just making it a personal quest to see why the hell Win2k has problems with your pics. Maybe Gonz could chime in and help out 🙂

Penguin13 came across this problem yet again with some embedded .jpg files that I e-mailed to him from Apple's Mail application on Mac OS X 10.2.6. Given what everyone has described above, I'd say it is a local problem, and Microsoft seems to agree.

Perhaps this link contains the answer, which seems to point to Internet Explorer as the culprit. Keep in mind that they make Internet Explorer for Mac OS too. If anyone has the problem and they are not using some form of Internet Explorer, regardless of OS, it is probably worth noting.

Of course, I run Mozilla on Windows XP and Safari on Mac OS X, so what do I know about Internet Explorer?!

:)

Well, I take it back. I can't see it with Mozilla 1.4, but I can see it with Internet Explorer. Both are on a Windows XP machine. Go figure. I'll have to try Safari on Mac OS X. Regardless, I have no answer and only poorly pieced-together speculation. Carry on. 🙂
