The issue at hand was the one remark.
And yes, he does get paid to be arrogant and say controversial things.
They knew when they hired him what they were getting.
He is crass, arrogant and egotistical and they hired him on that reputation, so they were completely aware of what they were getting. That seemed to be what they wanted.

I'm not defending Rush, I am defending the right to say what you want, ANYTIME you want.
That is what this nation was supposedly built on.

I don't believe that anyone should be condemned on one comment.

Some folks like to use the word 'bigot'or'racist' rather loosely. Even if there isnt an itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny shred of evidence. Just my opinion... :>)

Limbaugh Bombshell: I'm Going Into Rehab for 30-Days

Number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh announced at the end of his broadcast Friday that he was addicted to painkillers and would be checking himself into a rehab clinic Friday afternoon.

He said his top-rated show would be hosted for the next 30 says by a series of guest hosts.

With just minutes left to go in his show, Limbaugh told his audience:

"Part of what you've heard and read in the past week is correct. I am addicted to prescription pain medication. I first started taking prescription pain killers five or six years ago when my doctor prescribed them to treat post-surgical pain following spinal surgery."

The conservative icon told his audience, "Unfortunately the surgery was unsuccessful and I continued to have severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck now, due to two herniated disks - pain which I'm experiencing because of that."

Limbaugh said he chose not to undergo further surgery, but instead tried to treat the pain with prescribed medication, explaining, "this medication turned out to be highly addictive."

"Over the past several years I've tried to break my dependence on pain pills and in fact I've twice checked myself into medical facilities in an attempt to do so."

The top talker said he only recently agreed with his doctor to take some additional steps.

"So, immediately following this broadcast I will check myself into a treatment center for the next 30 days to once and for all break the hold that this highly addictive medication has on me."

Rush did make a terrible judgement call on this one. I think that its different than smoking dope or taking drugs for recreation though. I doubt that he is enjoying himself, especially if he has two bad discs in his back.

My dad had back problems of a similar nature. The pain can become unbearable. So I can sympathize to a point. But he still went about handling this the wrong way. Just my opinion.

That remark was aimed directly at Rush and his hollier than thou attitude on most things. He was abusing medication, enough to become addicted. Does that make HIM a pill popper....um well, yeah. And if it didnt become public he would more than likely continue to do so.

If RL was doing and abusing all of these pills should not the question be asked of where was he getting them? Did he have a doctor that fed his addiction or was he getting them illegally? If an MD was suppling them he is just as screwed up as Limbaugh. If Rush was coming by them in another manner that makes him just as much a problem as any other criminal.

Just when are 'some' of you folks going to act like civil adults in your conversations, and get a clue that 'profanity and name calling' is something that our hosts don't want on their forums?
