Fox News just announced that Mass. rules that gay marriage is now legal. No link, yet.

Personally, I don't have a good feeling about this.

I always viewed (gays) as having a mental disorder. I can’t say that im shocked by the courts. But it’s a step ahead in the end of America as we know it.

Exactly what kind of bad things do you expect to see because of this? I can't think of any down side. Other than a lot of people being pissed. TFB!

Touchy subject. Can't say I agree with their decision. We all draw the line somewhere.

We are what we are born and we (in my opinion) were created in Gods image. I thought I was heterosexual and now I find out I'm bisexual ( heterosexual/metrosexual ) but that's okay after all so was Jesus. Did you ever see a picture of Jesus where his hair was not clean and combed or where he was wearing a dirty robe or he was in need of a shave, why he even had women washing his feet. So I guess you could say Jesus was bisexual ( heterosexual/metrosexual ). The point being we are what we are and if you don't like what someone is, you are the one with the problem. JonR

I like woman. Does that mean I can have two wives now? I am what I am.

Oh man, JonR. Calling Jesus bisexual? It's a good thing Mag's not around, though I'm sure he's reading this. You got balls, I'll give you that.

I hope that is your idea of a joke. If your implying that Jesus was bisexual simply because he kept his hair combed, was clean-shaven and wore clean clothes? If that’s true than I myself, as well as a lot of other men must be bi.

First of all, there are no pictures of Jesus, only paintings. Second, of the paintings I know of none that date back to Jesus’ time. They have all been done in relatively recent years and are based on written descriptions of his likeness. Nobody really knows what he looked like for sure. Also, I feel it safe to say that an artist trying to capture the image of Christ on canvass is most likely going to make him look as splendid as possible. Why would you paint a portrait of someone just to put him a dirty robe or with a head full of messy hair? Please tell me you have more than this to base your opinion on.

Bottom line is Jesus was a NO sexual. He never had sexual relations with neither man nor woman.

"it’s a step ahead in the end of America as we know it"

How so? I'm not sure I understand that statement. America has endured more through time than some state court ruling on same sex unions. These people work, pay taxes and earn all of the same rights as the next person. I'm not sure I see how a ruling that only affects a few (in the big picture) would have that much of an impact on others.

And as far as these people having mental disorders, that's just an outright ignorant statement. I would be willing to bet if you took a poll, the so called mentally disabled would financially out-earn those that criticize them...

I don't think because you are gay you have a propensity to earn more cjfrnf. There are gay executives and gay trailer parkers and everywhere in between.

Is this going to change America? I think it will in some ways. But we will just have to wait and see if its for the good or not.

I'm sure a similar debate happened when it was ruled ok for women to vote or that segregation was wrong. Did it change America. Yes. But change isn't always bad.

Now, when do I get my second wife?

kcody,

Just as you pointed out to JonR that we cannot know what Jesus's hair and clothing looked like, how can you know whether he did or did not have sex with someone?

Not to get an argument going here but it is a historical "assumption" that Jesus had no sexual relations. Much of what is written is by individuals with an interest in creating a special image and record of the Man. So how do we really know?

I'm confused by this half-assed decision. Who comes out on top? There's always winners and losers, pitchers and catchers.

My point was, everyone deserves the same fair shake as the next person. Who cares what they do when they go home at night and who its with. It really has no affect on my life if two people decide to marry, same sex or not. It's their life. And when the roles are reversed, I'm sure they don't care about our straight lives. Everyone, no matter your belief, is an individual, so let them live the way want.

Plabonte, what he is referring to is statistical information that has indicated gay couples have more disposable income (on average) than straight couples. I couldn't direct you to a specific source, but I have seen several articles quoting those stats.

With regards to the marriage rights... why shouldn't they be afforded the same rights as other citizens?!? With the institution being based in religion, they could easily start their own religion or become part of an exisitng one that embraces gay marriage. You could spend the next 1000 years fighting over which religeous belief is right or wrong and never figure it out.

Becuase it has become a governmental issue with the tax breaks and laws surrounding marriage and married couples, they should, as tax payers, be afforded the same rights and opportunities as any other citizen.

People who are gay want to get married for the same reasons straight people do... for love, commitment, filing joint tax returns... we can't deny them that right because of the lifestyle they live (legal lifestyle by the way).

"Is this going to change America? I think it will in some ways. But we will just have to wait and see if its for the good or not. "

It is already changed television.
Look at the numerous shows that have them on it.
You can't get away from it.
There are very few shows who have not approached that subject. Even DIY channels!

"Who cares what they do when they go home at night and who its with."

Now, don't get me wrong, I could care less what they do in their own home, as long as it stays in their home. My children shouldn't have to see that kind of thing and they are pushing for education of that kind of thing in the schools. Funny that they would try and ban Tom Sawyer from the libraries, but that subject is ok to teach about. And folks wonder.....
