Why are there always people who offer more than the asking price for a set-price deal? WTF?

... I have found that true cigar aficionado's are extremely generous people ... and those that do, prove what 'class-acts' they really are.

No, I'm talking about c-bid's special offers--e.g., the IT Fire deal right now for $19.95. Why would someone offer more than c-bid's asking price? It's a fixed-price deal at $19.95; there's no need to pay more. This always happens; I've never seen an exception. There are always some guys who offer more than the asking price.

I think he is looking at the cbid special. Take a look, so far 2 people have overbid, on a set price special, and probably a few more to come.

Screwed again. That's OK, I have $1,000 bid pending on 4 boxes of mints. Hope the shipping isn't too high.

I did this once. I wanted to put in an autobid but entered it in the wrong place. So instead of bidding $5.00 with a $25.00 autobid I bid $25.00 on an item that was only going for $5.00. Easy mistake.

Plabonte (and others that might make this mistake) - Cbid allows you to edit your winning bid if you notice the error soon enough. Just put in your password, click the little "Edit a winning bid" check box then click Submit Bid. It will allow you to edit bothe your initial and auto-bid amounts.

Why auto bid on a fixed-price sale?

But it's not a fixed price sale, it's an auction. If I bid $24.95 on 325 boxes, everyone that has not used auto-bid will be outbid and I will get the cigars they wanted. Now if only I had a house-ador to put them in.

Actually, the last special on the Sherpa Diable went over the start bid. So many got out bidded. Just letting you know that its not a set price, depending on popularity, it might end up higher then the starting bid.

The sales that they offer for a specified price ($19.95 or $29.95 or whatever) aren't auctions--not unless they're being untruthful (and illegal) about things. If I get an e-mail saying that I can get a box of [whatever] at a specific price of [whatever] and if I choose to reserve a box at that price and get my reservation in before the alloted count is sold, then they're obligated to sell them to me at the specified price. That ain't no auction.

This site (like many have already said) is totally an auction site. Everything offered on this site is up for grabs to the highest bidder.

If you receive an email special (from Cigars International) ... then that is the price you will pay, through them.

Just because CB offers a 'starting' bid, say $19.95 ... that doen't mean it will stay at that price.

Nothing 'untruthful' or illegal about that ...

MrSecureT, I deleted that email so I don't have it in front of me, but as I read it there was nothing to me that indicated that it was not an auction. And since when you go to the page to view the special, it is clearly an auction page and the button you click is labeled "Submit Bid", I'm really not sure what made you think it was not an auction.

They're offering those for a specified price of $12.50 per bundle; that's a set price. Why bid $13.50 or $14.50 if you know you're going to get it for $12.50?
