I have an old American elm in the backyard. When I put in my fence, the roots were damaged in a couple of places. Now I have morels popping up in my backyard all the time. I don't know enough to know if there is more than one edible species and if these are edible or not, but someone once told me that the variety associated with elm roots is the edible variety. Anyway, there are tons of them and I have to dig them up and toss them over the fence all the time.

I'm a devoted deer hunter. My son is 7 and he's been hunting with me (not every trip) since he was three. His birthday's in September and this year I plan to get him his first deer rifle. We'll then have a couple of months to get him ready for opening day.

We have lots of does on our farm and a liberal doe season (2 per day), so he should harvest his first deer this year. I can't wait to bloody his face.

year round outdoorsmen,hunt everything but turkeys don't like snakes.Do a lot of saltwater fishing everything form speckled trout to tuna.Lemonfish are the thing right now,we fish our first tourament sat.Snapper season opens wed can't wait.

Oh hell yeah, I am a rare breed "californicus-huntericus" believe it or not, california can be a great place to hunt, but you gotta want-the-sh-t-out-of-it, good, but not easy...

I live in South Alabama on the Gulf Coast. We have a small farm about 90 miles North of here. I also hunt several times a year with a buddy in Barbour County, Alabama.

Hey I hunt Carp with my bow. I had a sister who used to throw silver salutes in Lake Erie to watch the fish (I don't agree with that!). When I lived down south I had a beautiful Koi pond and I would regularly visit it with my .44mag (shot rounds), because I had water moccasins that would go after the fish.

I used a Sako 75 Deluxe V (375 H&H Mag.) w/ Zeiss 3x12 Conquest for both.

I actually like salt water and deep sea fishing more than anything.......my father and I used to go out of Port Fourchon, LA. twice a month when I was in high school (those were the days).

Do you live near the coast still? Where? I love deep sea fishing! Nothing like going after Dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi) in the Bahamas with some premium sticks and Excellent Scotch!!

I live in Baton Rouge now (grew up in Thibodaux) and it's about a 2 1/2 hour ride to Grand Isle/Port Fourchon. One of the biggest assets to LA. coastal fishing is the Offshore oil rigs.....they are perfect structures for all sorts of salt water game fish (from all Snappers to Amberjack; you name it).

The craziest of all is hitting a shrimp boat pulling up its nets about 30+ miles off when blue water (rip) is relatively close and defined. The water literaly "boils" with game fish and sharks. You just pull up next to the Trawler and drift with it. All you do is take a hunk off of a bonita, or whatever bait fish is on hand, put it on a hook and lower the line next to the boat and BAM.......Amberjack, Blackfin Tuna, etc.! Man, its like fishing for brim.....really big brim!! Dolphin don't usually partake in this type of action, they generally keep to the rip and floating debris and seaweed.

We should 'hook-up' sometime (pardon the pun) when I'm down that way next.

I mostly hunt but will fish if given the opportunity. Hunting and shooting is my passion. Actually I will be going to South Dakota at the end of May for my annual Prairie Dog shoot. 4 days 1600 rounds and mounds of dead well you know....

hensed and sonny sounds like fun. I used to hit LA about 15 times a year to visit my uncle and fish Toledo Bend. Haven't been down there in the last 10 years though.

I shoot a benelli too. I have a SB Eagle LH 12ga, shhhwwwweeeeettt shotgun. I haven't really gotten big into birds yet but I do partake in the great Southern tradition of pig picking and dove shootin. I'll hunt ducks and quail every now and then as well. I have a friend who does a big duck trip every year an shots the southern fly way on the texas/mexican border. He just slays them down there.

hensed- I own a Remington model 788 .222 bolt action
with a 3x9 scope.. I've never plunked any dogs but
have always thought this would be an excellent choice.
Super high velocity and flat trajectory.. what do you
shoot the dogs with if I may ask...?
