I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I've been interested in cigars and pipes since I was about 19 or so, and I'm 26 now. My fiancee Tracy and I have a small collection of pipes and she is getting me all the stuff to set up a coolador for our anniversary this year in June.

I may not post often, especially about politics (I prefer not to get involved), but I thought I'd come out of the shadows and say, "hi" to everyone.

Yours,
Sheila.

Why hello there! Tracy and Sheila, huh? I am going to assume you're the girl, since Tracy could go either way...

Yep, we're two lesbians, but not the scary man-hating kind. More like the fishing/drinking buddy/tell dirty jokes kind. 🙂

Yours,
Sheila.

Yo rick,

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't speak for me. I didn't make a faux pax. I made an assumption.

I've been wrong before and it'll happen again. Relax. I got nothing against gays or lesbians.

*dirty whisper* In fact, I think lesbians are kinda cool!

hehehehe

Lesbian or not ... one smart gal that lurked long enough to learn how the forum operates, and shows in her very first post that she knew which board it belonged ...

... and MACS(SW), don't get upset with Rick. Assumption or Faux pas ... the first one usually leads to the other. Rick using 'Fax pas' was him just pointing it out in a nice way ...

... because you know what they say about those who 'assume' ... 😉

Oh, and don't mind Robby ... he's just a lesbian in a man's body ... hehehe ...

Howdy,

What kinda cigars do you like, or are you starting with the pipes first?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome! As far as my faves go:

Pipes: I really like clay pipes, bull dogs, churchwardens and Canadian or Billard-style straights.

Pipe tobacco: Nat Sherman 509 has to be my "if I was stuck on an island with only one tin" tobacco. I also really like the Clan Shaw Tradewinds, Carribbean Sea and Galway Bay.

Cigars: Baccarat, La Estrella Cubana, Bohemian Red, Morro Castle, Romeo y Julieta, Industrial Press, Player's Club and Big Butts (just to name a few). I really like medium to strong cigars and ones with a bit of a spicey flavour. I also like Tatiana Vanillas or Cuban Honeys if I'm in the mood for a sweet flavoured cigar.

sheila, welcome to the board. i'm a pipe smoker and cigar lover as well. more into cigars at the moment, but for some reason, in the summer i tend to smoke my billiard pipe more.

if i may ask, whereabouts are you in the world? and congrats to you and your fiancee -- all the best to you both.

Thanks, Cavallo!

Tracy and I seem to do the seasonal thing... in the summer we smoke more cigars and in the autumn and winter we smoke pipes more.

Currently, we're in West Virgina while Tracy finishes her education. After that, we'll be moving to wherever she can find a job teaching highschool.

Yours,
Sheila.

YO MACS(SW)

i wasn't speaking for you at all.

i mearly pointed out what i read and judged it was a faux pas. an assumption can be a faux pas. for example me showing up in shorts and a tee shirt because i assumed an outdoor party in the summer was not a tie and jacket affair.

there was nothing judgemental in my post.

Welcome Sheila, and Tracy.
I would suggest jumping in with both feet, and get on the trade boards. I think the newbie sampler thread is still going. If not, shoot me an email, and I'll see if I can find a few smokes, to help broaden your horizons.

If your fiance will be looking for a job soon, I might recommend shooting a letter to the Norfolk
Public School district. I know in recent years they have been critically short of teachers. 🙂

Thanks, Cayman and Dave, e-mails sent.

Also, thanks for the tip, CWFoster. 🙂 Seems like there's various teacher shortages all over. We've got about 2 years to wait, so we'll see what the situation is.

Yours,
Sheila.

Jeepers creepers... some of you folks just don't get me yet, do you?

I ain't mad atcha rick, and I know what a faux pas is. Didn't you find it kinda ironic that I said I didn't commit one, and then said I DID make an assumption? Well, duh!

It's just me trying to be funny.

Again, welcome to both Sheila and Tracy. Always good to have new folks to talk to.
