doesn't even know he or she is a bigot.

the use of these phrases and the hundreds of others that generalize about any group, does not
necessarily mean the the user if a bigot. sometime the phrases are just part of a family or peer
group's lingo, but one should at least examine one's heart and mind to see what is hidden.

if, however, you don't feel the necessity of self examination, or you see nothing wrong with these
cliches, remember the old adage,

Much of our cliche's are BASED on stereotypes.
But they've become part of our vernacular (I likely spelled that incorrectly)

I used to sit in the "heavens" at the old Boston Garden. I was a kid, so I didn't know it was short for "**** heaven". Am I a bigot?

Are stereotypes nice? Not usually.
But why is it considered "more evil" to use stereotypes against blacks or jews or gays than it is against the irish, italians or germans?

When you hear the word "bigot" you think of "racist", someone who hates others because they're black.
When someone makes a comment about a Jewish person, they're an anti-semite.
And if someone says a disparaging remark about a gay couple, they're labeled as a homophobe.

I don't see similar monikers for those who hold disdain towards other groups.
Lot's of people dislike the proliferation of Asians into our country. What are they called (besides stupid)?

My point?
People can't be so thin-skinned. When an innocent child takes back what he previously gifted, we shant not chastize him for "indian giving".

Gater, we live in pc times. Only certain groups that are perceived as "superior" are allowed to be targeted. Ironic, isn't it? The operative word is "perceived".

In my misspent childhood, I devoured many books. Some of the well-reconized authors, Messrs. Shockley & Jensen, are scientists who were widely aclaimed in their respective fields UNTIL they began to make note of "differences" between races.

I feel that there is always a grain or two of truth behind stereotypes. It may be attributable to constant victimization, wars, an isolated gene pool, even the clime (tropical heat, arctic cold, etc.). In my opinion, the Irish (northern Europeans) do drink more, Jews (Koreans, Indians) tend to be more parsimonious (stingy/frugal), people in warmer zones may pace themselves in the heat & rely on a siesta to recoup.

Certain groups appear to be better athletes and others may score higher on iq tests. Are these differences attributable to genes or the environment? I think both.

Better stop before I have another sanctimonious "snitch" take offense & have this thread yanked as well.

The important thing is to look beyond all these factors & accept/respect/love (try to anyway...) each other. We are all equal under the eyes of God.

As long as you don't hate someone for the group they belong to while you're killing them, it's clearly a less serious crime. Here’s a few tips that have always worked well for me personally;

Just think about baseball while your choking the life out off them. This can clear your mind of hate, and prolong the moment.. Try to take your mind off the murder and go to your happy place.

As their head comes to rest in your crosshairs, chuckle about one of your favorite jokes or a favorite movie scene.

As you hear the bat make that characteristic “crack” when it hits their skull, visualize your favorite player knocking one out of the park (then be sure to strip and burn the clothes with the bat) and wash up good (not at home).
