JonR,
I believe that you have Springsteen mixed up with Rush Limbaugh.

I have long been a fan of Springsteen, and will still listen to his CD's....so what if he has poor political tastes! Just don't preach to me at a concert!

I still don't think that anyone who hasn't lived among the masses should have an opinion.

To the actors, actresses, song writers, atheletes:

There isn't a day where you wake up and have to worry about your next meal.

A high power bill doesn't result in a sacrifice of something else in your life.

You don't have to get up before 5 AM to go to work if you don't want to.

A broken transmission in your car doesn't mean your kid cannot go to summer camp.

Your name alone gets you the best table, a front row seat you don't pay for, the best service, a private flight so you don't have to wait for 3 hours at an airport.

I fully understand that talent, skill and timing has rewards that are deserved. But to attempt to be a spokesperson of the people is BS.

I love Springsteen's music. I hear the messages in his songs...agree with some...don't others...but he needs to just shut up and sing.

being a long time Neil Young fan...I can only refer to springsteen as the other white meat.

As for hi political views, even though I am conservative, it doesn't really bother me. People though I would stop being a Pearl Jam fan after that flap two years ago, but I tell them that 1. anyone who votes a certain way because a celebrity tells them to should have that inscribed on their headstone, and 2. the passion that makes them want to create controversy is the same passion that makes them create the music they do, I wouldn't want to trade one for the other.

JonR,

Do you facts to back up your statement? You are always very quick to get on Rick for not providing facts.

So what Rayder is saying is that because of a certain person's financial status, they should be allowed to have a political opinion? Hmmmmm.

CORRECTION- I missed the NOT as in "they should NOT be allowed to have a political opinion"

Charlie hit this one on the head.
I could give a rats ass about my favorite musicians political views. Just don't spew them out during a concert.
Consider the forum. If they use their public persona to express their views that's fine. Just don't bitch and mewl when the public reacts.

I saw springsteen on his last tour. He sang songs. It was a great concert. No mention of politics.
As it should be.

Bassdude,

I agree wholeheartedly with you. Rayder doesn't appear to be that open minded though.
