Gee, I live 7000 miles away from Capitol Hill, do I still get to vote and express my political opinions, or am I banned as well.

What exactly did the man say in that interview that made you all so mad at him? Quite honestly, I think it made a bit of sense. Yes, it's obvious that he is voting for Kerry, but he never outright bashes anybody, or even builds Kerry up to be more than he is. He even states "I don't think he has all the answers."

Oh I get it, he actually had the fortitude to disagree with the powers that be and ask for change....my my my, maybe he deserves to be "banned from the USA." How dare he excercise his constitutional right of freedom of speech! Especially to criticise God, oops I mean Bush.

Musicians shouldn't be allowed to express political views? Have we forgotten Clinton's multimillion-dollar extravaganza called "Rock the Vote," where he convinced musicians to help him win?

I am a pretty big Springsteen fan and have been for awhile. For all the years I have been a fan never once have drugs ever been associated with him. Quite the contrary, he has always had an impecable reputation as someone that does not partake even in heavy drinking nor have there ever been any incidents to suggest so. So why doi I see these posts insinuating drug use? Is it some narrow minded "he is a rock star so he must do drugs" thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Just got back from vacation Hog and saw your question on Nugent.

I was a big Nugent fan back in the 70's. Great brand of hard rock. Underrated guitarist.

My take is that he is too extreme in his own way for drugs. Anyone that is that passionate about his way of life doesn't need the drugs. He is truly high on (his way of) life.

Saw Nugent a few years back when he opened for KISS) KISS has a hell of a rep for partying hard, bur he made a point of telling the crowd when he first got in the business, he saw Henrix die, Joplin, and other behind drub use, and he figured that was not the smart thing to do, so he never started. says he's been clean and sober for all 50 or so years of his life! (nice gun collection! and refuses to tour during hunting season!

Speaking of celebrities and their politics, I think we should file a class action lawsuit against Alec Baldwin for non-performance! He said he'd leave the country if Bush got elected, and the mofo is still here!

From what I see, Springsteen, is not promoting Kerry, in his concerts, he has signed up to do some shows, as a benefit, for a political cause. There is a HUGE difference. By the way, I didn't see any of ya'll having a problem with Arnold speaking his mind politically, for the last 15-20 years, before he got into politics. Just because he is on the opposite side, of your beliefs, doesn't mean that he should sit down and shut up, that would be UNAMERICAN. Any way, I seem to remember Springsteen came from humble roots, and made it to superstardom, the old fashioned way. He has walked among us, but climbed the ladder the American way. So now that he doesn't walk around us, his opinion doesn't matter????? I believe him to be much more enlightened as he was not born with a silver spoon, but his kids are. That is a major plus in his credability.

Homebrew: Guess again. Detroit Free Press article (July 17) regarding the concert scheduled for Cobo Arena Oct. 3:

"A Warner Bros. Records spokeswoman on Friday confirmed R.E.M.'s participation in the concerts, including Detroit. She said the band will play several of the events -- what she described as Kerry fund-raising shows -- before launching a national tour for its upcoming new album.

"A Democratic Party official in Washington, while not confirming the multi-city concert plan, said it would be in keeping with plans by the Kerry campaign and the Democratic National Committee to coordinate campaign events and fund-raising during the fall.

"John Kerry and John Edwards may appear at some of the concerts."

This concert bill includes Springsteen and REM. Yes, they are pimping for Kerry - plain and simple. Springsteen may not come out and say "Vote for John Kerry" at his concert, but he might as well via participation in this event. In fact, I think he is claiming he is playing concerts "in opposition to Bush's relection." So you can spin that as you like.

Having said all that, it's their right. But let's not try and cover it up as they're just being politically aware. They're Bush haters, same as the Hollywood left, and they're using what clout they have to raise money and get Kerry elected. That's how the game is played.
