Mac Baron de Rothschild, Padron Ambassador, Punch Pitas, Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #3, Arturo Fuente Privada #1, Perdomo #3 Maduro, Mac Duke of Windsor Torp, Partagas Limited Reserve Royale, CAO Gold Label Corona Gorda, and Romeo & Julieta Vintage #3. (I won't mention the few dog turds imbetween.)

Trying to get a mix. Any suggestions?

Go ahead and get that Perdomo #3 Maduro out of there. I'll do ya a favor and take it off your hands. You'll never be happy with it. Shoot for some La Perla Maduro anything, Bolivar Fuerte, and La Gloria.

Quite an assortment for a "newbie", but you need some Padrons, LaGlorias, Indian Tabacs to round it out! Charlie

Got a 5 pack of the perdomo reserve #3 maduro. I think I will try one after a few days in the humidor, and I will let you know. Thanks for the other suggestions, I will try to add them.

That is quite an assortment for a new guy at this! It is usually hard to get the new guys to keep from stocking their boxes with Swisher Sweets and Backwoods!!! You must have consulted a friend before making those primo picks.

Mtsheron, thanks, but actually I just researched ratings and recommendations on various sites. Picked up alot of those picks here as 5 packs. Started a few months ago while in Cancun and fell in love with the Cubans there. Bought my first couple of sticks in retail stores after coming back from Cancun, but now found sites like this one that lets me buy near wholesale. I try to listen to recommendations by those more experienced than me, like yourself. Looks like I will be adding some La Gloria's soon.

Beware, though. La Gloria Cubana is a pretty strong smoke. Approach with caution! I had one when I first started on cigars and it kicked my butt. Now after a little "experience" I can say it's one of the best! Always perfect construction. I prefer the maduros. Out of the list you've mentioned, I'm sure you will LOVE the Romeo & Julieta Vintage -- a great cigar on the milder side.

mixing cigars in the same humidor tends to make them all taste the same. at the very least, keep them in their wrappers.

The old to leave the wrapper on or take it off debate rears its fists! I take the wrappers off, as you do not get any "bleed" or itegration tastes unless you are dumb enough to put an Acid (expensive dog rocket) or Lars or one of those flavored cigars in the humidor! Use dividers if you are that paranoid about taste mingling. Charlie

Charlie, I divide my cigars by type. Cedar dividers seperating my mexican rolled cubans (legal even though they are supposed cuban tobacco, as they were rolled in Mexico...don't know for sure what they are but got them in cancun and love them), my various dominicans, and then my misc. Read early on about the wrapper debate. Seems like most recommend it off to allow proper aging.

CL, thanks for the heads up. As you can tell by my selections I prefer the mild to medium still. Maybe I should wait awhile on the stronger ones. Thanks again.

Rick, have you really found the cigars to taste alike if stored in the same box? I started removing the cellophane (the 'wrappers' are an integral part of the cigar. Do NOT remove)about a year ago and have had no cross-flavoring. None. But I eat whole habanero peppers, so my tastebuds may be shot...

You eat whole habanero peppers!!!!!! I would love to see that!!!! My neighbor grows them and just for ha ha's I carefully cut one apart. I then tried just the flesh, that was one of the hottest things I have ever eaten. I then took the part with the white vane with the capsaicin oil on it and just touched it to the tip of my tongue. That will be the last time I do any experimenting with habanero peppers. My neighbor did say that he mail ordered the seeds form a place that said the peppers were the hottest. He also got quite a kick out of my experiment. It did take a full week for me to start tasting my cigars again. Robert

The Pinars are ok. The one I had was a little tight on the draw, but the flavor was pretty consistent.
