It's disheartening that the guy only got 11 months in jail. He's been convicted 13 TIMES. It's time for him to break rocks for about 20 years. He'll never learn. Great article. Won't be long and this technology will be standard equipment with homes. As it gets cheaper and easier to use, pepole will suck this stuff up. I ca=ould see tiny cameras all ove the house linked wirelessly to the network and images sent to whatever server you desire for viewing while you are gone.

Nanny-Cam on steroids.

I have a video surveillance system.
One day Fed Ex said they dropped off a package on our door step and it was no where to be found.
I called Fed Ex and asked when it was delivered and they gave me the time. I went to the tapes and no vehicle in the drive at that time.
So I called them back and explained that the surveillance tapes are time stamped and don't show any Fed Ex truck during that time.
It was a $1300 package and had I not had the surveillance system, I might have lost out on it. As it was, the driver delivered it to the wrong house. It was retrieved and delivered to the house.

So all in all, the surveillance system was $500, plus $300 for the installation. That one thing paid the cost of the system.

While I like the idea of the webcams for surveillance, I opted for a stand alone system with a recorder.

Just curious.

Does your insurance company offer discounts on the premium since you have that protection?

Thanks

herfsnipe,
I don't know.
I think they do, but am not sure of it.
We have a bunch of rider policies on stuff, so I couldn't tell if we get a discount or not.
I may have to ask them about that.

Does the ACLU know about this? Isn't this an invasion of privacy for the would-be thief? I imagine this will be attacked in the future by our crazy crazy left and we'll be forced to notify thieves of video surveillance or else we can get sued.
