In 1911 Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves. Were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1935 China establishes gun control. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, are exterminated.

Germany establishes gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, some 13 million Jews and others are exterminated.

In 1956 Cambodia forces gun control. From 1975 to 1977, one million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves are exterminated.

In 1964 Guatemala establised gun conrtol. From 1964 to 1981 some 100,000 Mayan people are rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda, 1970, gun control established. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves are exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th century.... 56 million plus.

Next time someone talks in favor of gun control, you can now ask " Who do you want to EXTERMINATE?"

Something to think about.

The Bible says, " A strong man armed, protects his family"

Just one final note... "with guns we are citizens, without them we are subjects."

That has got to be the lamest argument I've yet heard for support of gun ownership. I am not against it, however, if you think having a handgun will protect you from the forces of our government then you are sadly mistaken. It would be, in lunatic Zell Miller's terms, akin to firing a spitball against a cannon.

What do you think 13 million armed Jews could have done? How about 300,000 Christians? that's a small army. Ever heard of the Revolutionary War? In recent history, several goverments have fallen to armed militias. If we refuse to learn our history lessons, we will simplt make the same mistakes.......except this one costs lives.

I too believe in history, because it teaches us much about the future. These are however very different times. Back the then government had guns to fight our guns. Now they have numerous sophisticated weapons far beyond our means. Don't you remember what the Russians did in the theatre hostage standoff a year or two ago? They used gas! Our govenment has already researched using immobilizing gases against us for supposed crowd control and the like. Do you really think you have an adequate defence against such expert technology? What about electronic evesdropping? No organized rebellion could ever take place in this environment. No, force would not work, and you are foolish to take any comfort in such thoughts because they are simply childish thinking.

Government needs to be controlled by intelligent thought and action. Unlike all the folks who bought the "weapons of mass destruction" warcry one needs to look more deeply into issues and into the folks vying for power. That is were the real strength of the citizen lies. Don't do that and you are indeed a subject.

Gun control is hitting what you are aiming at!

Now, my true views on guns, if you own them, you should not be afraid or fail to register them!

I also feel that we do not need these automatics that will shoot/fire about 100 rounds every 20 seconds and lots of the assualt weapons should be illegal!

Mo:

What does your question have to do with this particular discussion...or are you just starting another thread? I don't get it.

If you want more support for my argument look at what happened at Ruby Ridge, or with the Branch Davidians. Or in other counties... the gun toting Palestinians are still being wiped out at will by the Isreali army. Why?...Guns are no offense against tanks and blackhawk helicopters. Or the insurgents in Iraq...not using many rifles anymore are they? Ineffective against the modern day equipment of our armed forces.

Think about it...you don't stand a chance of employing that sort of tactic in today's world. Your only choice is to hold govenment accountable, carefully scrutinise anyone running for public office, monitor their actions. Don't allow you basic reflexes to take over when more intelligent thought might lead you to a different conclusion.

No wagner. Despite the odds, and unlike liberals, I refuse to shirk my responsibilities or my rights.

I asked the question to show your ignorance. Willing to answer?

You make absolutely no sense. Tell me what your definition of a "liberal" is. What responsibilities are "liberals" shirking? AND what about Ruby Ridge and the Dividians?--Do you think you would fare better? They were both well armed AND LOST!!! You would have to be crazy to think you could muster enough force to even hold off the government through the use of force. Have you seen a psychiatrist lately?

You, like mo, make absolutely no sense. Go ahead try to take a stand like that at Ruby. Where do you think it would end--you'd be gone in a flash. Everybody wants to be a hero, but when you pull away the false bravado you realize there is nothing left. Face it, you are weak and powerless if you chose to fight the army, navy, and marines. You are a military person, you should know this. Or are you going to tell me the insurgents in Iraq will ultimately win the fight because they have arms? You make no sense---no sense at all!

I am wondering how well gun controled worked? I don't believe the ones we need to keep guns away from go to the local gun shop and buy them over the counter and gun control can't help buying them from the underground. Also I don't think its right to ban guns from American's. Is this not like just giveing up our rights? How much of our freedom do we want to give away. Just IMHO.

..I knew that 12 guage of mine wouldn't be enough...damn!

anyone know where I can get a cluster bomb or a better yet nuclear weapon? I fear my government is out to get me.

Funny how folks like me that question the government, and folks like Rick that not only question, but scorn the government are called liberal, anti-America, communist, hippies, but these same folks claim they need to own a .22 caliber pistol to protect them from their own God-like President. Sort of hypocrisy don't you think?

Good to know you sickos would have stood around and applauded the death of the Jews in Germany. I mean, adroomi applauds China and they regularly oppress freedom and take lives for it. That's beyond liberal, that's sick and pathetic. Some things are worth dieing for.

actually, wagner, i don't think i can agree with you. you have brought some specific instances where a small radical group fell to the hand of the government. if, however, a nationwide revolt where to take place, i think handguns and other common firearms would be quite effective. there are only so many tanks and large military equipment. also, we can make bombs pretty easily these days, as well. yes, on a larger scale i believe armed revolutionists would do quite nicely, and i also believe that this is what the constitution had in mind when the 2nd amendment was written. of course, i could be wrong. hell, i've been wrong many times before, but this is my opinion.

adroomi, i don't think these guys fear the government. rather, they want to ensure the government has the respect armed citizens command. the government will probably never try to remove all the rights from its citizens, but if they try they'll be reminded of the firepower the citizens have. it's sort of a way to maintain a balance of power and remind those in control of who they are supposed to be working for. does it work? i don't think it works well enough, but what do i know?

Besides the fact that you're forgetting that military members are citizens too. We CAN and DO think for ourselves.

If I was ordered to start disarming the general population, I would not only disobey, I would go AWOL and JOIN the general population. As would many of my brothers and sisters in the service.
