No, some people are just stupid! We have beat it to death and it will continue to happen, just live with it and laugh at the fools as they burn their money to help support the bid action! Charlie

Hey ... it's nice when CB can make out once in awhile on an overbid here and there.

You guys have to realize that they 'loose their shirts' more times than they gain ...

Also, try to get those Hemi's anywhere online. Even though it may say they are in stock, they don't necessarily keep their pages updated. I've tired may times to get boxes of certain cigars, only to be emailed that they are on backorder.

I waited for several months to get a box of Hemi 'Short Story' that the site claimed was in stock ...

There is a reason for everything.

And remember, it may be an overbid to you, but it may not be for that person.

Thank you RR for supporting my habit here at Cbid, without people like you this place would not exist.

I guess I'll de-lurk to take my bows, since you all are being so nice and polite and congratulating me and all. I happened to have been having a lot of trouble finding hemi sigs in stock and when they are in stock, there is a limit of two singles or some such nonsense.

I have to pay $8.00+ for singles in my local shops, but I wanted a BOX!!! So I got a box, even if I did have to fight for it $3.00 at a time with someone else.

Did I pay less than I would at my local retailer? Yes. Did I pay a premium? Sure. Is the instant gratification worth it? You bet. Am I sorry? No. I've saved enough on this site to make an occasional over-bid tolerable.

You'all play this game your way, I'll play it mine...

So, um, Rod ... what are you trying to say?

... and Rod ... by chance, would you like to tell us who bid just $3.00 less than you? Maybe then, maybe not, but just maybe they'd start picking on him for jacking your price up so high. Personally, I see you as the victim in this auction. You were FORCED to bid high in order to compete with your local cigar shop. It's not YOUR fault they charge a premium rate for this cigar and it's not YOUR fault that they only allow you two at a time. Rob, tell us HOW it makes you feel that SOCIETY has made you the way you are today. Don't let them blame you for overbidding, they should blame SOCIETY as a whole for subjecting you to this type of treatment. Let them know that it isn't your fault you grew up to be like this. Competitive, forcefull, keen & shrewd in your bidding skills - for you Rob - it was just matter of survival wasn't it? It's all you know how to do - and it's not your fault is it....

Once I was raking in a nice poker pot in Las Vegas and one of the local pros who had just called my last bet sneered at me and told me I didn't play my hand right. One guy cant bid up a box all by himself. The rules dont allow it. Let Rod play his own hand his own way. Pretty gutsy to come in an take the abuse head on. Good thing CB doesnt lose on every sale, we wouldnt have a place to buy cigars cheap OR criticize each other's bidding habits.

All kidding and abuse aside, I would rather place an order and stand in line for the better price (most of the time), but you REALLY wanted them and you wanted them NOW and it IS your money, so enjoy them and dont take the razzing too seriously. I said it before, I love capitalism!

That would be me tough guy. And you can see, my earlier comments state each person has his own set of circumstances to contend with. Rod123 came to this board and without needing to, explained his situation and justified his actions to you pouters, whiners, sarcastic sorry asses. Welcome aboard Rod. Light one of them bad boys up and speak your peace.

Rod: where I live, Hemingways start at 10.00 a stick, and go up from there, that is when they are in stock. Most of the web sites that carry them, rarely have them in stock. I bought the last 4 in my town for 40.00 in January. So if it costs you 193.00 for a box of 25, then you still got them for 57.00 less than it would cost me to get them here, if I could. I will light up one of the two that I have left to celebrate your victory.

Congratulations. I for one couldn't care less how much anyone bids on anything here. I have enough of my own problems.
It's a great cigar although I realllllly like the Don Carlos.

Congrats!!! Worth is a strange thing, isn't it? As long as you're happy with you Hemingways (I'm jealous cause I know what GREAT smokes they are) then who the heck cares how much you paid for them. Enjoy!!!!

Mr. Mean - you've NEVER overpaid for a cigar here on CBid before? What if you include shipping charges? C'mon, let's hear it ... (btw - my e-mail isn't working - can't send - I have about two dozen of the Industrial Press "3 Kings" 3.0" x 33 ring left, they're great quickies when you can't take the time to enjoy a full cigar - I'll part with half for equal trade of whatever)
