Let's see...

Examples -

Suing McDonald's because you spilled coffee in your crotch.

Suing the grocery store store because you slipped on a wet floor with a sign saying WET FLOOR.

Suing McDonalds because you got FAT.

The litigious comments are dead ON. I could waste more space, but I don't bother arguing with imbeciles. They always lower you to their levels and win with experience.

And your so called "judgment" that "she looks coked out".....proves my point

No, I'm not a doctor, but I'm studying to be one. But it doesn't take a doctor to know when someone is on drugs.

"Suing McDonald's because you spilled coffee in your crotch. "

Have you read the legal brief on that one? Maybe she was awarded money because the coffee caused third degree burns. Coffee isn't supposed to be that hot.

"Suing the grocery store store because you slipped on a wet floor with a sign saying WET FLOOR. "

Send me a link for this brief, I'm very interesting in see how that one turned out.

"Suing McDonalds because you got FAT. "

I admit that's dumb, but has anyone actually won money with this?

"The litigious comments are dead ON. I could waste more space, but I don't bother arguing with imbeciles. They always lower you to their levels and win with experience. "

If it makes you feel better.

"And your so called "judgment" that "she looks coked out".....proves my point "

But your comments of a similar nature on much less biased people are right on. Hypocrite.

Charlie,

I'd like to know why you think I claim to be an expert on all things political? Did I start this thread, or was I simply trying to point out the other side on an obviously hostile, one sided post/forum?

You guys flame every one of the two or three non neocons on this forum.

***threadjack***

I, in my infinite wisdom, surmise that you are all on drugs!

To wit...

"So you see Tobii3, the argument is flawed and biased."....Isn't any given side of an argument biased by its very nature?

"Does it not bother you that tobacco companies put chemicals into their tobacco to make it more addictive and advertise to little kids to try and get customers for life?" see Liquor Industry

My father died of emphysemia after 60 years of smoking cigarettes. He started smoking in the 30's when they thought is was good for your health. He continued smoking after it was proven to promote lung cancer. Point being....he knew it and it was his CHOICE.

Who (children included) doesn't know that smoking is bad for you? Anyone....Anyone...Bueller?

I am not a Conservative. What I am is sick of the constant push for Anti-Personal Responsibility in this country. There is an erosion of self-responsibility in America and typically it is done under cover of so-called "good intentions." People who chose to smoke can blame their lung cancer on an addiction and tobacco companies. Obese people can sue McDonalds. Gun manufacturers are blamed for murders.

That is crap...and by the way BMellis...what makes my "diatribe" any more tired than yours?

I leave with a quote from Ayn Rand from "The Nature of Government"..."Since the protection of individual rights is the only proper purpose of a government, it is the only proper subject of legislation: all laws must be based on individual rights and aimed at their protection."

I know bmellis is on them. He claimed in a previous post here that most media outlets are owned by conservatives??

WHAT!!??

The media is the most liberal form of claptrap going. FOX is the only outlet I know of that could be considered conservative.

But what do I know? I'm on drugs. And he knows this because he is studying to be a doctor. Not because he has years of experience doing DAAR tests...

Driving in itself is dangerous.

BAN ALL DRIVING NOW!

(unless you are an undocumented alien. Then you get free healthcare AND a driver's permit).

Breathing the air around us is dangerous; especially for people in some of the heavily polluted cities. when someone tells me that smoking is not good for you, I tell them with a straight face "Well bretahing the air around me isn't good for me either. I might as well enjoy what I'm breathing if it's not good for me."

nfldraftman , you hit the nail on the head ... I was just hoping to lob a laugh at how someone should have said something about driving and talking on a cell phone should be banned before smoking and driving. Lord Knows yapping causes more deaths on the road. And, once again, someone sees a thread as their own personal soap box to spew their political beliefs. Heaven help the one who disagrees, or, it's hatred abounds till the thread dies . . . Sigh, Another thread gone right in the toilet.

You know, if you have to resort to using name calling, then maybe you should re-think your posts, before posting them. This thread was one of a non-combative discussion until you got involved.

I'm trying to get this straight, do you smoke cigars or not? If you do, then why do you sound so much like these folks who push these moronic Anti-smoking commercials about the tobacco companies lying to everyone?

I'm not trying to create an argument, just thought you may want to take a breath and re-group a little.

There is no sense in creating bad feelings on a thread.

Smoking while driving creates hazards. I have handled countless accidents where the driver dropped a cigarette, had and ash fly in one's eye. Lost a pack of smokes under a seat and lost control fishing for it etc.

But that doesn't make it any more hazardous than any other driving distraction. There are a thounsand things that distract a person and they aren't always something inside a vehicle. I have seen more accidents due to external distractions than interior. So maybe we should have a law against windows and mirrors in a vehicle as well.

It's stupid. You can understand why things happen but it is ridiculous to try and regulate everything.

0patience,

You said:

I was the one called a name, not the one name calling. I wonder if you'll direct that statement to the name caller now.

0patience,

I forgot to mention, but yes, I do smoke cigars (and pipes), though I don't smoke cigarettes. And I also said in my original post, the one I got flamed for, that I think that rules banning smoking while driving were dumb. What I got flammed for was saying that the anti-tobacco industry people aren't acting without reason. Apparently both sides of the issue aren't up for debate here, which is while I'll refrain from mentioning any idea that will go against the majority opinions here in the future.

"I was the one called a name, not the one name calling. I wonder if you'll direct that statement to the name caller now."

I only see the on instance where you referred to everyone as imbeciles. So if I am wrong and someone else was doing the name calling, I must be missing it.

I'm not certain which post you are referring to where you got flamed. There is one post that ribbed you a bit, but if that is flaming, then RICK would probably be the most flamed person on this site. LOL!

"Apparently both sides of the issue aren't up for debate here, which is while I'll refrain from mentioning any idea that will go against the majority opinions here in the future."

There isn't any reason why both sides can't be debated without name calling or flaming.

I rarely get into these kinds of posts and rarely take sides on any of these.

I never said anything about what my view on this subject was, nor did I give any indication of my views, so you are assuming that you know my views.

As I stated, I won't get into arguing with you on the subject.

There are ways of debating or discussing topics without calling folks imbeciles. Which, by the way, doesn't gain you any friends.

Lighten up, enjoy life and open your mind a little.

Things aren't always one sided. You must be able to look at things from different angles to see what is there and what isn't there and be able to discern the difference.
