I agree with your observations. I had been personally attacked and it wasn't until one brother spoke up denouncing the verbal accusations that the foolishness stopped and I received some semblance of an apology.

I think when we notice a BOTL or SOTL being unfairly or improperly treated we have an obligation to call the perpetrator on their actions. I don't think lists will work because some of these folks might actually like that. As a final resort the most effective measure might be for others to simply refuse to respond to the posts of those individuals. There is nothing they hate more than being ignored. It is the attention they crave more than anything.

Thanks for the positive responses. Don't worry, there won't be a 'List of Shame' but I think some of you would be surprised at who would be included if there WAS such a list.

Folks, this problem isn't about just the new people coming on board - a LOT of FOGs are equally guilty.
You guys do a great job of monitoring yourselves. I think the suggestion of ignoring them might work, but a little private contact with gentle reminders to the offenders might work even better. From what I see, you all have each other's email addresses. When you see someone doing something that is a little over the top, let them know. It's much more effective coming from a friend than Big Brother (me!) LOL
