I see a flaw in this whole "cigar auction" thingy. At other sites (CI included), if you want a particular cigar you simply pay retail. Here, you bid on several lots and have to wait to see if you "win". Sure, it's kinda fun, but the REAL problem begins once you finally receive your package. What happens if you actually like the cigars you've just purchased? You need to buy MORE! And the tricky part is that they may not be back on auction for some time. And once they are, there's NO WAY you want to pay MORE for the same smokes you just won for a song two weeks prior! I don't know about you, but I can't bring myself to pay more for an item once I got it at a discount. For instance, the first box of Puros Indios I got was about $65. I then won a box for around $45. I now find it difficult to pay over $45 even though I know they are worth a lot more. Another instance is the Tamboril Line of fine cigars. Somebody once gave me one to smoke. Now you couldn't pay me enough to smoke another one... I think you see my point.

Why smoke cigars at all?

Well, there ARE those times that you make a number of bids, knowing you'll lose a few of them and then, crazily enough ... you DON'T ...

My stock has been replenished twice in the last few weeks that way ... another week of that sort and I'll be needing another humidor or two ... guess I better check out the merchandise section, huh? OR ... hmmmmm .... how much spanish cedar do you think it would it take to panel the small back bedroom??? Yeah, that's it ...

..that's one of the things I like about CBid, I've learned a lot about cigars and discovered smokes I wouldn't have otherwise given a second look. If I go into a retail shop I spend more because I buy only brands I know. I don't want to pay retail for a disappointing smoke. Of course I'm going to get some bad cigars, but I didn't pay a premium for them. About winning the same lot at different bids, winning bids are all over the place. I might bid higher over time for a lot I once got at a bargain. But I never bid more than I'm willing to pay.

Well, you could win multiple lots, take the avg savings, and figure you payed your song for the one, and retail for the others, or, you could find a comparable cigar for same said song, or you could save all your "nubs" in a seperate butt-ador, and when you have enough, roll your own, thus saving even more! LOL

OK ... now, if you WERE to save those nubs in a butt-a-dor (damn, I LIKE that!) and began rolling your own, how many cigars could you smoke from an accumulation of 64 butts if you found that you could make one whole cigar from every four butts ??

the first answer of 16 overlooked the subsequent butts, the answer of 80 overlooked the wording of the question (how many could be smoked from an accumulation of 64 butts) but was still one off anyway ... and I just LOVED GetYourOwn's answer ... who, in my shoes wouldn't??? oh, and GYO, that's one cigar I've never tried ... maybe it'd be worth a chance unless they're made from (Lone) Wolf butts ...

My answer is the correct answer. You could make as many as you want from howerver many butts, they are going to taste like crap therefore making them UNSMOKEABLE.

That's how they make lone wolf cigars , they use the crap from four dog butts for every lone wolf cigar. JonR

the question posed was how many could one smoke as a result of rolling an accumulation of 64 butts into new cigars and he were able to get 1 new cigar from every 4 butts ... 85 would have been correct IF the question had read how many could he smoke if he began with 64 cigars, but ... the 64 accumulated butts the original question refered to COULD have been smoked by him, but some or even all of them might have been smoked by other people ...
