TORANO--can i just say how happy i am about those 2 guys. how did you know i am a maduro kinda guy? i would say am speechless, but i am too busy blathering on. thanks again, and i now enjoyed your birthday MORE than YOU!!!

Glad you got em bro! Those Toranos are the Bomb! I cannot remember what other cigars I sent but I am pretty sure all were pretty damn good. I thought I owed it to you guys for putting you through so much hell! lol! I am extra happy that I sent some that you had not had before, let me know what you think.

they are so beautiful, i have to pull them out and look at them. a carlos torano 2004 tribute robusto (the label told me). a carlos torano sigature (did i tell you i am a robusto guy?). a rocky patel sungrown torpedo. an arturo fuente gran reserve (double chateau? maduro?--it has cedar around the bottom--and black ribbon on the bottom of the cedar--not sure, but the size fits). and one of the most beautiful cigars i have ever seen--a gurkha doble maduro.

which shall i smoke first? i tell you the toranos are gonna wait till a GREAT day or a ****E day.

"there is nothing like FREE cigars! can i get an amen?"

Burgess --

I'll give an amen to that -- it's fun to receive new and different stuff. Bombing can be fun too, especially if you know the person's going to like what you're sending....

I just found these forums a little while ago and did a couple trades and then got my ash bombed off. I've returned fire on a couple and a couple i still feel that i'm inadequately armed to do much damage. But the good thing for us who are newer to the cigar world is that the bombs from the FOGS and vets allow us to broaden the spectrum of stuff we get to try. For the first time in 2 years i have more singles to try (and i'm working on them one at a time!) than i have multiples of anything. In fact i sent out a few bombs (a couple to other newbs) and hardly have anything from a full box left.

I figure this'll be a great period to try everything i've recieved, buy only fivers and samplers and narrow down what i like and don't and then stock up on the good stuff and eventually help others go thru the whole process.

It's a great cycle and everyone benefits in one way or another. You get to meet new friends, trade stix, save money on box splits and eventually help other newbs out as they arrive. This was a great idea.

HAVE FUN!

Hey guys...another piece of advice..

If you get wind of a Herf in your area, even if its a few hours away....get to it...you will be blown away by meeting these people in person...

I've organized 2 of em myself and I've never had a better time then when I met up with these people, me and the Mrs. are headin to one in the Chicago area this weekend and we've been giddy with anticipation all week...

If you ever travel around get on the boards and find out who's in the area you will be in and try and hook up for a stogie and a drink...

i wish i could go.....one of these day's i'll be able too!
just the wife wouldn't have much fun.....( stick in the mud)...i love her to death but she's got "her things" and i've got mine.....we've got some together though.... i got her hooked on nascar....so "we" go to the brickyard , but don't do much traveling per-say.
but i did get to sit around with a few guy's up there this past race and smoke some with them ....but the wife was hanging at the campsite....she didn't want to go !
so i doubt she'd be any good to me...going to a "meeting"......i'd just hear whining i'm sure.
and common sense tells me to avoid the problem all together...and i listen to common sense!!
hehehe

but, `dup, she can do TONS of things in Chi-town. there are the museums, the aquarium, of course, she can spend your money. and if you didn't eat the pizza, you didn't go to chicago.

a tad over 5 years here.
we have "our own" set of shows.....caus ei can't stand the trading places and crap like that...and i really am not fond of "dr phil"...don't get me wrong...i'm sure he's good and qualified...but i believe that his show has probably caused fights between couples...because "why can't you be more like that??" and it put's suggestions in the head that something's wrong.....when there isn't.
he's turning people into self proclamed psyciatrists! that say.."well dr. phil..."!!!
who cares....i'm not dr phil and i sure didn't ask for his advice.
so i have her go to the bedroom and watch that stuff!(actually she chooses too)!and i watch in the front room...big screen!!

Just so you know, some wives do enjoy the herfs. I talk to other wives, those who don't smoke (HI Rieko!) and those that do (HI Mabug!)

A herf is a gathering of people with a common interest (ie cigars), from there, we grow into friends (quickly, I might add)

My first herf - I did not smoke at all. My second, the only cigar I burned, burned back. Am looking forward to the next, and the one after that.

Mrs.Tank no disrespect was intended...your a sweet person..and so is my wife..i love her to death...but...ya just "know" these things.

i'd have fun....she wouldn't...it that seventh sense...ya know?

i' would love to try!!.....but believe me.... murphy (that bastage) has this law..and he prohibits me from attempting this manuver !
you ever heard of it?? it's the "you knew better law" but was too stupid to heed it !
Tank's a lucky man!
and i wish she "might" have fun...then i'd think about it more....but i'm doomed there.
But i was rattling around the idea of say going to ...Hershey Pa..."maybe"..next yr....and just maybe...(pre-set-it-up) into meeting dave (john hay cigars)...just by accident.
but i think she would enjoy the hershey trip..to the sweetest city in the u.s.!
we'll see.........thank's for trying Mrs.Tank...but i think it's in my best interest..in having a "good" time to plan it out.....instead of "mostly cigar oriented" as i would have in my mind heading into it...hehehe.
