Everyone needs to remember, this is a "flint" corn, not a "sweet" corn. This is NOT a modern hybrid, the corn kernels will be white while green and can be grilled/cooked like roast-n-ears. Once it gets past the green stage, the kernels will begin to dry and change to a purple/white/blood red color. A mixed corn that is mainly used to grind for meal

If you only planted 1, no one will get any, I'm sure you are being silly, but as stated some where before.

All corn plantings need enough plants to be able to have good pollination of the "ears". so the kernels fill in.


Corn does better in "blocks" of rows, instead of 1 long row, again better pollination as the pollen from the tassel needs to get on the "silk" from the ear to make the kernels. I will often go down the rows when the tassels are dusty with pollen and shake them to disperse the pollen, this is called "Tasselling" a block.

Hybrids are created by planting 2 different corns in a block near each other, then one of the corn types has all the tassels cut off/detasselled, then the other corn's pollen will be the one to cross with the other corn, thereby giving off a hybrid seed.

yes, if you cook them like roast-n-ears, cook them in the shuck on the grill, after soaking them in salt water for an hour, turning them every so often until they are tender,


not like sweet corn, but still good, some restaurants will grill it and call it "mexican corn" in the NE, and Midwest

Numi corn seeds went in the ground on Wed.. And I am sharing some with a couple other people so they can get some in this weekend too. Numi corn for everyone!

Got a box of numi corn seeds (and a whole lot more) today...trying to figure out if there is enough season to plant many but I will see what I can do on Monday!
