As a few of you know my humi is a converted steamer trunk, standard size, I have three lbs. of beads in it, in three separate spots. I live in a very dry climate and I am in and out of it 4 or 5 times a day. I have to add water every couple of weeks or more to keep the RH above 60. Seem normal to you fellas, need more beads, need better seal, don't worry about it, what ya think.

Seems normal to me! I seem to have to add water to my beads in the cooler about that much in the winter.

I know what you mean but I really do not think that opening only 4 or 5 times would make it drop so much. Maybe more beads or a higher percentage beads. Next thing to rememeber is if your hygrometer is off a tad. Most can be off up to 7 percent RH. I personally have a couple like that. I also have 3 Diamond Crowns and all are off maybe like by 2% RH. They seem to be more close to actual RH as the off brands can be off up to 7% as mine are.

Dave, play with your cigars, pet them, feed them, name them, and smoke them. They are there for your pleasure.

Lefty,

I only open that big 'ol thing of mine about twice a week and most times less. What I do is keep a 100 count desktop on my desk and put a variety of smokes in it that I think I will want to smoke. Most times I just pull out of that, only filling it again when needed or the opportunity arises to add water or something like that.

I am only adding water to the Moist-n-Aire (in the big humi) about once a month at most and my climate is always 35% to 55% rh.

Personally I think you may be better off lining the trunk with spanish cedar if you haven't already. After that, get yourself a desktop. The amount of beads seems about right.

I do the same but with a 25 count. I Keep most stuff in the cooler and I'll put 20-25 cigars in the desktop for the week.
