Frank, Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway set drunks back a hundred years in the movie Barfly not to mention poor Buttkowsky.
To this day, I think Snagglepuss when I remember Rourke's affected depiction.

barfly might have been the single most disappointing film i ever paid to see, and a large part of it was the Snagglepuss factor. Love your line 'set drunks back a hundred years"...no one writes quite like you.

There is/used to be a Bukowski Tavern in Boston, might have to make it my biz to get drunk there some day.
