Pardoning death row convicts isn't popular.

I understand and agree emotionally when the desire to kill/torture/severely punish rises up within upon learning of yet another sickeningly violent crime. But I can not be part of an equally final act, I can not act on impulse the way murderers do, I can not allow anger and testosterone to make decisions. Nor do I want a government with that power over it's own citizens.

I don't want them to be "rehabbed" and released. I simply do not want to have a hand in a murder and I am part of the state.

I am not against releasing if new evidence (eg DNA) is compelling, however.

Having said that, I think that muslims may be onto something however, when they allow the victim's family to select the retribution, be it monetary, death, or act such as mutilation in a like manner as was perpetrated on victim.

Gov't officials trying to remove the death penalty for treason. Let it sink in.

I tell people about that movie all the time and how good it was. It was made by HBO as one of their monthly original movies. For those that don't know it's about Andrei Chikatilo one of Russia's worst serial killers. It is worth searching out to watch.

Ah yes, upon rereading I see I allowed the current to carry me to a river of personal passion early on. Thanks for putting me back on the intent of your op.

Removing the death penalty for treason...setting things up for an apres office-holding future that includes an inevitable power swing?

That's why I'd do it, if I was at all concerned that my tenure could be construed as treasonous once my term ended.

You my friend will never have anything to fear as long as I have a home with a nice shed with windows where I can hide you.

I may have done some of those other bad things but treason is not one of them. The death penalty was my deterrent.

A nice shed you say?

you still got them Garcia Vegas you were bragging on recently?

Wvhy? You've grown partikelar? You vill smokke them und you vill like them!

If you take an oath to protect from all enemies foreign and domestic and uphold the Constitution. What is it when you cover for someone else that does?

🍺

Also treason, through complicity?

Others in history have claimed to have been just following orders. It's no more forgivable when it's one's preferred ruling party.

I do not doubt what your saying, however that IS only because even states who have it ( death penalty) on their books choose TOO often not to implement it. Seems to me with DNA testing now providing irrefutable proof of guilt, it should make it easier for states to follow through. I see NO reason why any state and or their tax payers should house them for life....Period

lots of interesting ideas and posts on this thread.

why does the putsman blurt out inane and irrational

childish semi responses when grown ups are having

conversations?

Forget about the death penalty for treason. The State can always use able bodied traitors for hard labor that even Mexicans won't do. Besides, once they pay their dues, they can answer their true calling & go into politics.

Like Bloody said, I don't have a real issue with dumping the death penalty for treason, but you have piqued my interest too...what's your take on this happening outside of the Executive branch? What am I not considering?

The Death Penalty is wrong,,,

duh...

Not because I believe something will happen just possibilities.
