I wonder who makes the decision to call a pack of 5 Ramon Bueso Toros a "Sampler", or a "5-Pack".
Being a noob, I figured five of the same cigars in a pack would be a "5-Pack".
But a nice lady at cbid Customer Service pointed out to me that the 5-packs I bought were actually "Samplers".
Sheesh............I'm a dumb noob.......I didn't even notice that on the description!

But I'm sure all you smart fellers know that they are in fact different.
The "Samplers" cost $1.00 "Shipping Cost of Additional Units", whereas the "5-Packs" cost $.50, despite the fact that they are exactly the same................or, are they???

Maybe the "Sampler" Toros are better.......maybe a little heavier too......more tobacco. That has to be it. I'm lucky!

See, I always "assumed" (thereby making an azz of me and me) that a "Sampler" would in fact, be a Sampler of cigars.......maybe different vitolas, or maybe a mix of different cigars, maybe a mix of different blends of the same manufacturer, etc.
How naive of me! A Sampler is simply 5 of the same cigars.......just like a 5-Pack!
I'm still learning............

Samplers are usually a 5 pack of different sizes or a sample of a makers different blends.

actually $3.00........but hey........they lose so much on the Opus don't ya know......they gotta make it up somewhere

It was prolly Sven's idea......

"hey Trish, what if we just take these 5-Packs, and rename them "Samplers".......we'll make an extra $.50 per unit"

times xxx thousand units per month.................pretty slick

Hmmmm, sounds like how the big Wall Street bankers operate...a nickel here, a dime there...

There's another place that lists its 5 packs as sampl........ohhh...never mind...uhh...I only shop at CBid....

But you saved on the price of the 5 pack, right?

Cbid knows exactly what they need to make on sales month to month. I've noticed free fall prices are better at the end of the month or when same brand cigar auctions are closer to ending.

They have it down to an art....

IMHO sampler and 5 pack are synonymous. If you don't care to buy a full box of a specific cigar and size, then you can buy a sample. the sample can be a single or even a 5 pack. If you don't care to purchase full boxes or bundles of different cigars then you can purchase an assorted sampler. What I'm saying is that there is no definitive definition of sampler. we are just used to seeing the word sampler represent an assortment. the other unique sampler is the flight sampler. all the same cigars but in different sizes. So lick meo:)

Agree with you there, except CBid lists one shipping cost for a 5 pack, and a different cost for shipping a sampler, which may be any number, but also can be a five pack, thereby creating the confusion and consternation. I think that's where the cost difference is: some samplers require more physical work to gather than a five pack, which may come from the factory packaged that way.

you might be on to something there.....
Maybe a "5-Pack" comes pre-packed from the Bueso factory....in a sealed 5-Pack.
Maybe the Sampler pack of 5 Bueso Toros is assembled by hand, and put in a ziplock baggie......in which case.....I fully get it.

If they're the same packaging.......then I don't get it.........and it is what it is...........

It's a dime a cigar difference, which is probably why I never complained about it---but it is curious. $ 1.25 for 5 singles (.15 a cigar difference), $1.00 for a 5 pack sampler and $0.50 for a 5 pack.

Purchase free for 27 days.

Just out of curiosity, I looked back at my last purchase and specifically a 5 pack of Bueso toros. I'm not sure if it was a five pack shipped for .50 or quickie for $ 1, but the price was $7(i guess I did good).
