NASCAR and the NFL are very similar. Both are tyrannical, hypocritical entities devoted to ad dollars, not the betterment of the sport. They all are, but I'd say those are the worst two.

I will say, one of my best weekends was at MIS, for the fathers day race years back. Cooking in the lot, drinking beers under the grandstand, going down to the fence just as the cars went by and getting thumped by the air blast and open headers. I couldn't say anything about the race though, I didn't watch any of it.

Very true, used to watch but it IS a very different animal today.....for the most part a " rolling advertisement " and tax write off for the many corporate entities that support them.

Tailgating at a NASCAR race is the best. I don't think any other sporting event gets as many people out there tailgating as NASCAR does. Noon races people show up at 6 a.m. with their grills and coolers full of beer. Night race they still show up at 6 a.m. with their grills and coolers. Plus being able to take your own beer into the track is nice instead of paying $10 for Bud. I haven't been to a race in years now but I went to Pocono, Dover, and Richmond with Richmond being my favorite. All were fun but Pocono you just can't see enough of the racing to enjoy the race more then watching it on tv.
