Is it just California, or are the rest of the states plagued by this bullshiiit? I get a dozen or more calls a week from companies trying to sell me "energy improvements". They've now started calling my cell phone, which infuriates me.

And it isn't just energy improvements... it's all kinds of telemarketers, charities, political bullshiit and the like. And when you ask them NOT to call you... they ignore you and keep calling.

Do not call list? Does no good, as far as I can see...

I'm likely going to cancel the home phone... and not answer the cell unless I know who it is.

My electric bills aren't that bad, really, and the fact is they have no idea of my electricity consumption... they just pull public records and ask if I am still the owner of the house located at "insert address" and try to sell me sh*t they don't even know if I need.

And jespear, I eff with them too... but it doesn't seem to deter them.

start speaking spanish quickly, asking if it's the cops. Tell them the situation is under control, but they need to stop calling you.

I've been getting text offers. They say to push a given number to be taken off their call list but the same sort of folks come around with different numbers I haven't banned yet. Figure someone is going to make their way around the 80's and 90's dinner table again

By "energy improvements", I'm gonna assume you mean "**** enlargements". Maybe your wife is asking them to call you?

I always just start by asking what they are wearing.

No sir, I need your address so I can send out your form.

Just hold the phones receiver up to your computer screen, I'll take a picture.

What are you wearing Jake from State Farm?

Who is this? Are you sleeping with my husband, (said in the deepest voice possible)

Josh is my other personality. Sing me a song to make him come out.

I just don't answer, they don't talk to the machine. If they keep calling, I block them. If I'm in a bad mood, I tell them I'm on the do not call list, ask them for information and file a complaint with the FCC.

I got one once that was about the 4th time this guy called me trying to sell me siding. I was home sick from work so i talked to him and his supervisor for about an hour and scheduled a time for them to come out and give me an estimate. He asked what kind of siding I currently have and I told him brick. He was very disappointed I wasted his time and havent got a call for siding since.

Got a couple of numbers that called repeatedly for weeks blocked on the landline. Now use the answering machine to screen calls...telemarketers never leave a message. Used to get calls from a security service several times a day on my cellphone when I was working, and had to take calls from unknown numbers. Blocked about 8-9 of them before they stopped. Since retirement, I don't answer my cell phone unless I know who it is.

It's difficult while being self employed to simply ignore or not answer ANY phone call....however I figure if they can't / won't leave a brief message as to what they want.....OH WELL 🌫
