... with the question about storing in a cool location. AC went out. Goshdarnitalltohades.

Moved my units to the "basement" and hoping for quick relief.

Thanks, man. Well, it's not a real basement, but I dont think it will get above 75. If there's no relief by morning, I may look at alternatives.

Lots fans. Bags of ice with the fans blowing over them. Keep the air moving and if you have a dehumidifier use it.

Best of luck tonight SM..

Stay cool.

Thanks for the advice. It would be better if it wasn't still 96 here at 7PM, but I guess if it wasn't hot, the AC wouldn't have given out.

did you check the fuses..?? or the breaker..?? if those are ok and it still won't start depress the contactor and see if it starts... may just be the contactor or thermostat... 👍

Breakers checked out. Tried contactor, no dice. Unit is ancient, so my guess is it may be past it's life span. Guy coming in the morning. C'est la vie.

75 is not a big problem for a few days, don't panic.

Will do. We've been exceptionally fortunate. This is the longest we've been without AC since Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

Basements make great Natural Humidors and they work for chopping up Body Parts from Murder Victims too..

If fan is blowing outside thats good.

Common prob is Frozen coils caused by clogged air filter. Clean and defrost is always first thing. Summer with hot weather and open doors can be trigger.

Sometimes drain lines clogs and auto shutoff shuts it down to prevent overflow...is it dripping...if not flush out...sometimes can backflush with garden hose.

These are all the DIY things to check first. Other issues can be low freon due to leak. I have had AC guy say coils need to be replaced but to save money /defer repairs have him recharge freon without fixing...might last a few more months.

As far as gars, I agree dont panic at 75.....panic over 80.
