I told you that the Chesapeake Bay Retrievor is the only dog breed native to N. America. The 1st male of the breed was a dog named Sailor, rescued from a sinking ship off Baltimore in the Chesapeake Bay..

And, my son is a Sailor,,

Hence, my pup is named Sailor.

TW is a much gayer handle.

It could stand for Turdy Weiner or something,,

He'll be fielding similar questions for the next 6 weeks, and singing songs, as well.

Tell him that he and his fellow selectees need to be proactive. Find out what their chiefs want, and provide it before they ask for it. They should all have a sponsor... use that resource.

They need to start fund raising NOW. Car washes, hot dog sales, whatever... they'll need to raise some serious funds, so it really helps to start now. They need to learn songs, and sing them to the crusty chiefs before they are told to do so. Gilligan's Island theme song, and the Brady Bunch are hilarious... make 'em laugh, and they'll forget about effing with you.

When they go into the mess, if they don't already have a plan... they're effed for the day. Make a plan, as a team, and roll with it. Keep 'em laughing. Skits, songs, parodies, making fun of them (especially that... make fun of those old, crusty bastids... they enjoy laughing at each other).

They must work as a team. Same shirts, same shorts, same songs, same boxes, same everything. If one of them is told to drop and do 25, they better ALL do it... together, as a TEAM.

The sooner they get their sh*t together... awww hell.... they're gonna get effed with for 6 weeks. Tell him to have as much fun with it as he can. Every chance he gets to clown one of those old, crusty bastids... do it.

God, I miss the Chief's Mess!!

Funny story,,,

My old Lady called him last evening after I told her he had a bumpy day. He was with his Chief (mentor). The Chief asked to speak with Terrie and they visited for a while. After the call his Chief said "your mom sounds awesome" and asked if he had a pic of her.

The only recent pic he has is of her when we were at the beach a couple weeks ago. It's a pic of her in her bikini on the back of a Motorcycle that i took just for grins..

The Chief said "can't wait to meet your mom and don't show that to anyone else...

My broad is pissed..

She should be flattered... chief's have seen the hottest tail God's green Earth has to offer, in every country.

If he liked what he saw, he's either hard up, blind, or she's hot... either way, she should feel honored. But you call her a "broad"... so... you can't really point fingers, right?

I stopped buying camera bodies in 2009 & a lot has changed since then. I still shoot a Full Frame Nikon D700 & it's still great. The difference between Nikon & Canon stopped being a factor years ago. They're both great.

My main issue with camera buying is the crappy kit lenses they have been pushing for years.

Repeat after me .... Variable Apetuter Lenses SUCK !!

My long-time saying is, "Buy your bodies new, and your lenses used. Cameras bodies come & go, glass is forever."

Shop around & look for online retailers that deal with used lenses. Try keh.com first. They're the world's largest used camera dealers for well over 30 years, and they're right up the road from me. I've traded with them countless times & they're good, fair people.

My 35-70mm f/2.8 is 32 years old.

My 80-200mm f/2.8 is 22 years old.

They're both sharp as a tack & indestructible. I bought them both used out of our company photography department from former photographers. I paid $200 each for them. New models are $2,000 or more.

Buy used f/2.8 lenses zoom lenses.

You can't go wrong with a fixed lens, either. 35/2, 28/2.8, or 50/1.8

Good luck.

I suppose you mean HE, as in Jetblasted, and yes he uses Nikon, but he acknowledges that there is little difference between the two, aside from Nikon bodies still accepting really, really old lenses. Canon made a body switch many years ago, so their really old glass won't fit the new bodies.

Most are taking pictures that willneverleavethe camera or end up on a small digital frame. Kit lenses work if you aren't looking to put pics in a magazine.

With that said, I tend to agree with Derek. Buy the body you feel comfortable with. Then find some quality glass used

Okay . . . I know I will catch some flack from the "real photographers" here, BUT here is another option.

The Canon G15 is a "point and shoot" camera with LOTS of features that you find on the larger SLR's.

Like I said . . . Just another option for you to consider if you don't have your heart set for a 'big boy" camera.
