All fixed, decided after dinner that I was on my own and began to play around until I found the fix. Also noticed several enhancements today and several annoyances trying to find things that were easy to locate on w7. Still wondering why it's free and what more time it will cost me. I suspect windows 7 support will be over before too long.

Last night was the last straw. I can no longer play videos and the computer keeps locking up and after wasting a half hour earlier in the morning trying to get it to open after a critical error. This morning I went back to windows 7 pro and all is well again in the computer world here.

I updated one of my computers from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10. Then started reading about all the ways they are collecting data on you. Didn't have any hardware issues. But, anyway, I reformatted and installed Windows 7 Enterprise. I was signed up for Microsoft TechNet, back when that was available. I could download any of their OSes. Ent is not in the offered upgrade path to 10.

Oh, I also just saw an article the other day about some of the 'optional' updates for Windows 7 and 8. Microsoft is sneaking in some more data gathering stuff back to those also.

When you put a value on all the time it takes to maintain a Windows system, are Macs really that expensive?

Read an article on Forbes that identifies the updates that need to be disabled to prevent these "features" being added to win7 & 8.
