As far as the unwrapping cigars, I took a look around the internet and how they wrap cigars and the filler, how can you know by a picture that its bad? Tobacco is a leaf and once dry it may just crumble and break a part like some of these pictures, Also many cigars claim to use "Blends" of tobacco, so would this not be putting different leaves into the rolling and at times would not the lengths of the leaves be different? I'm just curious how we know whats good and whats bad?

What about the "90 +" rating stuff?

Do you know what long filler, short filler and mixed filler mean?

Well several posted "whats inside" a random single cigar, one had problems to begin with, and the belief, I guess, is that this proves the cigar is crap. I fully question this method of proof. I looked for one of the premium brands "taken apart" like this and no dice. I'm not sure taking the cigar apart proves much unless you can prove that the cigar is misrepresented in some way by the manufacture.

All the reviews I have seen are based on flavor, burn, smoke, draw, these things I care about the most, if its "Toothy" or "no veins" are not as important than the later.

You should care about this, if it's Toothy and you end up with no veins, you need to send her home and go see a doctor.

Why act so butt hurt that someone said gran habano was a piece of crap? Cigars like people only get to make one first impression. Only with a cigar that first impression will determine if a person smokes more of them or not.

A month or so ago I burned an aging room f55 quattro. I was so excited to get to smoke that cigar it had been resting since Valentine's Day and it sucked. The damn thing wouldn't stay lit at all which is my no. 1 gripe about whether I like a cigar or not. I really doubt if I drop the coin for another one after a bad first experience.

If you like them there's no reason to try to defend them or convince others.

Getting back to the OP's question. I have had several of the GH's from samplers and gifts and even bought a bunch 2002's for a canoe trip. Haven't purchased any recently but here is my take:

The 2002 are a good solid pool/yard/camping/fishing type of cigar. Nice flavor, doesn't last super long but burns well and, if it gets wet or have to toss it out early, no great loss. Spicy start that becomes more savory. They go cheap here sometimes and also specials on the various web sites with free shipping. They are good cigars to hand out to inexperienced smokers as well at parties, poker games and the like, since not too strong and burn easy. Also the cedar sleeve looks cool to people. Even with shipping, if patient (or if you can combine shipping with another order of things you are going to buy anyway), possible to get them for around $2 per stick.

I did not like the SLS's I got in some sampler a while back. No flavor and burned way uneven.

The Connecticut: mild and lots of smoke but mostly "meh" not a big deal.

The Azteca was horrible. Reminded me of the worst cigar I have ever had which was a watch-while-they-make-them fresh rolled disaster I bought in Mexico. Harsh, bitter, nasty!

Reading others comments, with GH's, consistency seems to be an issue. There is chance to get a stinker or two even with a bunch you usually like. Indeed, I have seen people say they like the SLS so maybe I just got unlucky.

So, for me, I will likely get a bundle of the 2002's for the next party I have where I know there will be a need to hand some out or when going on the lake or river trip. But, as others have mentioned, you CAN do a lot better for just a bit more. Keep in mind length of smokable burn is an issue especially if you are having a leisurely evening smoke. You can find cigars for only a little more that burn almost twice as long as the cheaper stick. It's the VALUE baby!

Even though it WILL get you a few klunkers, I would shell out for a couple different style samplers and take notes as to not only which ones you liked and didn't like but what types of tobacco, sizes, and styles you do or don't care for - all of that info is on the web sites. Then you can better look around here to see what is a bargain.

While some of the Fogs here will disagree, the new 5V Miami is rolled by GH, and it is a nice smoke. Not as good as the previous DPG version, but still good and can be had for cheap! About a month rest in the humi, and good to go

I've smoked a few GH and they are in the yard gar class, with the exception of the Azteca Fuerte which is one of the worst cigars I ever smoked.

Anyone had the Barracuda? I liked it and would try again.

Picked up a box of the new GH VL robbies reasonably cheap @ $2 per. While I doubt they'll be what the OR's were I'm hoping with a nice long nap they'll @ least be an enjoyable yard gar. They feel a bit light in the hand ( not densely packed ) but appears to have decent construction.
