Go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond... or order one from Amazon if you're patient... but just get yourself an Aeropress.

I make myself a thermos full of coffee every morning (2 cups) and sweeten it with just a bit of foo-foo creamer, like french vanilla or something (I use cold stone sweet cream).

You can make it as strong as you like, and pressing it removes all the bitterness of drip brewed coffee.

I forgot to mention that using filtered water will keep scale buildup from forming in your coffee machine. I use a Britta pitcher and only need to descale once per year, never a problem. Coffee tastes better too! I AM a coffee geek.

Not a coffee expert, but the 25 year old Braun grinder and the 15 year old Krups 10 cup brewer I have still work fine. Usually use the dark roast beans because I prefer the strong taste of coffee, black. Currently going through a 3 lb bag of Starbucks French Roast I bought at Costco. The Kirklands/Costco house brand Dark Roast is also good, for about 1/3 less than Starbucks.

Kirkland house brand dark roast used to be made by Starbucks for Costco/Kirkland corp. Might still be the case, I just haven't checked up on it in years so I don't know if that is still the case or not.

I know there is someone on here that doesn't allow for Folgers/Maxwell House coffee. They had some great Cowboy Roast that I just finished up. Not a coffee snob here but I can see how or why some are.

Nobody mentioned the stove top espresso pot.

Easy to use, easy to clean. If caffeine is what yer after. Look into it.

I throw my used grounds into the mulch pile too. My night crawlers have teeth

Picked up a new machine my parents had at their house and weren't going to use... Just a standard drip maker... It'll work for now... They also has some Boondock Bay French roast, so I gave that a whirl yesterday morning... Built a fire in the pit, lit up a cigar, and drained an 8 cup pot without realizing I was doing it... I definitely enjoy coffee a great deal and don't know how I ever survived without it!

I did add a splash of some coffee mate - French vanilla for the wife, peppermint mocha for me - but as I get more in to this in pretty sure I'll be drinking it black sooner rather than later... I actually enjoy that slight bitterness...

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions... Actually learned quite a bit from this thread...

Rrumba - 5 pots a day?!! I greatly appreciate the offer... I'm a poor man with two babies eating me out of house and home so I have little to no means to return the favor... If that doesn't bother you, I can send you my addy lol...

Time for a cup of coffee, a fire, a cigar, and some pre-game!

Wide Awake espresso whole bean is my current favorite and has been for some time now. They're delicious I can eat them right out of the bag. That's how I taste coffee beans when trying a new blend.

Kona coffee from Hawaii is good too, mom brought us some back from her vacation there in 2010.

Got a bunn from my mom for Christmas last year.

Filtered water does help like mentioned above.

Turns out I love coffee... Not really sure why it took me so long to figure it out, but it is some fantastic stuff...

Tried a few offerings and right now I'm pretty stuck on Peets French roast and Peets Major Dickasons...

My sister - a bit of a tree hugger - just sent me a bag of certified organic "bird friendly" shade grown stuff by Javatopia... It's pretty good but I doubt I'd ever spend what they probably charge for it... I mean, birds are cool, but there are a lot of them and I'm not really worried about the ones trying to interfere with coffee production....

Time to start my second pot with a second cigar...

Lots of good suggestions here

A lot I've had or done in the past. Now I'm the only one drinking coffee or tea and I got tired of wasting a pot.

I bought a Keurig last year for Christmas and love it. Sam's Club has the same one I bought for 119.00. It comes with 40 different cups to sample and a carafe so you can buy the BIG cups for a pot. It's lasted all year without a hitch and I usually have 3 to 4 a day.

Columbian 100 percent. Caffeine, taste, and aroma! Maybe some Blue Kona now and again. Life!

Oh and @#$% that Starbucks bull@#$%!

Burn the beans! Can I have it less burnt! No

I'll probably get flamed to hell for this, but I use a Keurig with a fill your own cup (unless my wife comes home with pods, then my lazy ass uses those).

I was grinding some beans and filling it for a while, but meh... I buy the pre ground up stuff again (because I'm lazy ^... good trait for a programmer btw).

I don't think I'll ever be a coffee aficionado, but I'm pretty sure I'll always be a coffee junky.

Me too, not a coffee aficionado, just a coffee junky. I was talking to a barista at a coffee exhibit at the fair a while ago and told her that I bought 3lb bags of whole bean dark roast to save money; and to save time, grinded enough beans to fill a one quart air tight canister. I would dip into the canister each day for enough coffee to brew my 3 cup fix and then grind some more beans when the can was empty. She said I was wasting my time since the grinds lose some of their freshness/taste each day they sit in the can. The whole beans also lose freshness unless stored in an air-tight container: not the bag that they are sold in. She said I could get the same crappy results just buying ground coffee and save myself the trouble of grinding the beans. She recommended buying smaller individual bags and only grinding the amount that I would use that day. She offered to sell me a bunch of vacuum sealed 1 lb bags of coffee and the perfect air-tight container to store the beans of the opened bag. I passed, but...

Got my butt hurt....but still do it my way, the same way for 30 years+....
