Spicy deluxe chiken sammich and waffle fries sound good. There is a chik-fil-a on the way home, if I detour slightly. 🤔

Grass roots PR is the most effective. Of course PR was part of it. It's a business. My company gave out free child car seats to newborns out of the goodness of our hearts.... And good PR. Nothing wrong with that.

Let's not go too overboard. It doesn't mean it's the only reason but it is there. And they are not holier than though although it's a good image to have. They do do things for PR (they advertise etc) this was a great or move especially given their recent history. It's smart not evil and probably not the only reason.... But let's be real.

Sad.

You're comparing your companies "good will PR" stunt to an unplanned act of kindness.

Did your company suddenly decide one day to buy the car seats and give them away that afternoon without knowing if it would get attention?

This wasn't planned. Couldn't have been planned.
It was spontaneous and it was right.
And they wouldn't be blamed if they tried to bring attention to themselves for it. Even after the fact.
But they didn't.

And from what little I've seen of this story (still haven't seen on network TV), it wasn't corporate. It was local. Which makes the likelihood of it being a PR move even more unlikely.

Heard the interview this morning.

Local manager contacted local owner. Assembled her team and did the right thing on their day off. Publicity secondary and well deserved.

I think I told this story before, so forgive the repeat.
I'll give the short short version

Birmingham AL a few years back.
My sisters family was stranded on 280 due to a snow storm. Stuck in their car, the weather worsened causing the roads to be impassable.
4 hours later they made the decision to walk home to the other side of the mountain.

Chik-fil-a began making as many sandwiches as they could. They passed them out to everyone that was stranded that day. FREE OF CHARGE!

Oh. Forgot to say my sister had her 6 yr old and 3 yr old with her. She had to carry her 3 yr old daughter 2 miles through wet snow.

THANK YOU CHIC-FIL-A!!!!

While I'm not their biggest fan, that store did a great job during the storm. Probably 3 miles from my house.

No but my company did provide water and shirts etc during the floods of 93.... it was to provide immediate help, was a local effort (not from corporate on the east coast) and was indeed a good PR move. We were part of the community and wanted to help. it isn't mutually exclusive.

The car seats were also not a stunt. It was to ensure newborns safety on the ride home and beyond. It had the side benefit of reducing costs and providing good PR. Anytime you can do something good and get good PR out of it it's a win-win. I indicated good on them.... but to insist it's not good PR is silly and naive. Being a good PR move does not necessarily mean that was the only reason or even the driving reason. You are being myopic.

It is a good PR move. It's front page center of Yahoo right now. Definitely a win on the cost benefit chart intentional or not.

I'm surprised you can't recognize the difference between a PR Stunt like your car seat giveaway and an impulsive act of kindness that results in good PR.
