Well what I have found in most of the local B & M in my neck of the woods is most of the shops are dirty & dusty, staff is only their to hang out with there friends & regulars, staff know nothing their products, knows little about customer service, does not greet customers, asking simple thing like can I help you find something, or tell you about specials. So this does not give me any reason to want to spend my money in this business.
I was actually in a local B & M for a first time and the clerk asked were do you buy your cigars usually. I replied on line listing a couple of my favorite places I shop at. The clerk replied because "I" lived in the comunity I should support the local B & M shop. I said I will shop locally when the locals can compete with or come close to prices on Internet.
I did not say but was thing what I was thinking. That being your B & M is not my favorite charity, and what have you ever done for me your potential customer that I would support you sorry business.

This same shop had a table with everything on it a buy 3, and get 2 for free. Was not until the third trip to this shop that the Sunday guy who never saw me before. Asked if I knew about their close out table. I said no, he pointed, and I dropped a chunk of change on good smoking slow movers.
The women who is mostly there ocassionall during the week is a shall we say not professional, dresses like the cleaning lady who came one a week to clean my uncles home. Maybe is is dressing for her afternoon gig or second job stand on a cornor with a cardboard sign.
