One of my main peeves is watching a groundbreaking ceremony for a new building.

Instead of actually breaking ground- in essence getting to work, a pile of dirty gets brought in.

-a bunch of highly paid, executive morons show up in suits.
-they wear hard hats and safety goggles- remember, NOTHING has been done on this site yet.
-they are handed silver and gold shovels (to match the spoons in their mouths) and put in front of the dirt pile.
-somebody then has to yell out a 3, 2, 1 Shovell! Without that help these exec-holes wouldn't know what to do.
-then everyone applauds them, like good hearted volunteers cheering on the mentally handicapped for standing up on a field of some kind at a fund raising event.
-the exec-holes then smile, as they bathe in the applause from those around them, quite self satisfied that they have really accomplished something, and get even a more inflated feeling of worth.

The cameras stop, the exec-holes get led by their admin assistants like the dumb show ponies they are to their next meeting. The people who really move the dirt and build things, remove the wasted dirt and do the real groundbreaking.

Make these pampered candy azzess dig with a real shovel into the real ground, to get the project going, or stay in your mfing ivory tower and stfu.

There is your Saturday morning rant from the anger cave.

Ship Christening & Launching's....
Are much more fun...

The thing has already been built and they cut it loose...then hope it floats..

My brother is an Architect...
He's been to dozens of those ceremonies of which you describe...
He draws Huge skyscrapers...not suburban office buildings...

Or, you could fill it with exec-holes and hope it doesn't.

or the hole diggers could create the opportunity to build a new structure?

I'm far from an elitist exec, but there are roles to fill (job creation) when development happens and the ceremonial picture op isn't really an insult to those that get their hands dirty

I like the way the ground was broken for the Astrodome. Each member of the groundbreaking was given a revolver and they shot into the ground. I feel like more groundbreakings should be done this way.

Then they re-convene when the actual work is complete and do a "ribbon cutting"...

If and exec wants to break ground, then break the real ground. Better yet, show up in clothes that can get dirty and shovel foe twenty minutes. The little people would notice and appreciate it.

I guess I don't lump all C-level (ceo, cfo, coo ect) in one basket.

I have worked for some that were deplorable. They didn't know how to lead. I see this as a role similar to a coach. They are to inspire and figure out how to get the best from people. The best, not only for profits but for self pride of their staff.

I work for a man now that will make you want to run through walls for him. He challenges you to be better. Plus he won't ask anything of you, that he has not already done. He's awesome to work with.

Too many young folks are afraid of hard manual work. They all want the title without the effort of "getting there".
One of the wealthiest men I know doesn't have a college degree or a fancy title. He's in construction and will take almost any job. New construction or remodel. He works very hard and is strong like an ox. There is no telling how many millions he is worth. I'm proud to say that my son has worked for him several summers. ( not Ocho, he's only 13, but he does earn money as a soccer ref).

Don't hate all execs. All of them aren't bad.

However, I do think the ground breaking ceremony is silly. Typically it's all for publicity.

I don't hate execs. I do greatly dislike the posing as ground breakers- unless they are actually breaking ground. That's my beef.
