TW^^^

I just bought a RUGER LCP .380
And love it.

I paid only $219 for it , ( when first introduced to the market they were $349 : then they lowered them $100+ recently) brand spankin' new...
It eats FMJ ( 3 different brands) no problem.
Light concealed carry.

I think $319 is a good price for that model you
Mentioned above.

I have 2 glocks now. 19 and 43. I know exactly what you mean.

I need practice with them to get used to them. I was used to shooting the Beretta 92F and they are completely different guns. Glocks being hammerless are double action, every shot. That takes a little getting used to. At least it did for me, and would explain your 'spray pattern'.

The 1911 had to be racked so it was single action always. The 92F was single after the first round. I got used to that.

I'd be willing to wager I could still shoot 230+ (out of 240) with that Beretta, on the Navy qual course. Love that gun... but it's far too big to carry.

I keep trying to like the Glocks, keep going back to Springfield. Have the XD and the Range Officer 1911. Can't get them to malfunction. Next on the list is the EMP.

Wife-- packs a Beretta 86 with the flip up barrel in 380.
Nicknamed it "butter"
Smooth, accurate, and no need to rack.
Beretta stopped production but their still out there.
Around $500.

Another vote for the XD. I carry the sub-compact in 40. My single stack is a Sig 239, also in 40.

Frank,
Wait till we start talking AR's.
Muzzle breaks and 1 and 2 stage triggers and barrel twist and floating rails and pop up sights versus scopes and dots and lasers and blah blah blah

Shield felt and looked nice, didn't shoot it well and I don't like manual safety on them. Control is too small and too firm to flick off. Sold it.

Don't like Glocks

the Kahr subcompacts are nice, have pm9, triggers nice smooth DAO

Had a Beretta Nano, shot very well, but the trigger was the longest I've ever pulled. Not a bad trigger, just a mile long. Traded for Shield.

Kimber Solo one of my favorites, kinda picky with ammo but it feels so right and shoot it very well. Have never carried.

The XDs I loved, but traded for the Solo.

My favorite is my PPS. Shoot it very well, trigger got much better over time - was very Glock like initially. Love how it carries, and fits my hand well with the 7 and 8rd magazines. Have had this since they came out, 10 years?

Springfield EMP subcompact but haven't shot it. I like 1911s, and I liked the look and feel of the scaled down EMP over a normal officer frame 1911.

Sig 938 is high on my list to pick up when I have the cash.

90% of the time though, I carry a LCR. I prefer wheelguns.

I know more than half of what we say to each other is BS, but this is totally honest.

I carry the LC9. I have for almost 2 years I would guess. Best handgun I've owned so far. I've never had an issue after about 500 rounds I'd guess.

I don't love the long trigger pull and the weight of pull is a bit heavy. But in a carry, I don't mind so much. It's not like I compete with it.

Drafter
The slide isn't too tough. My wife carries the same model and is totally comfortable with it.

So, pick up the LC9. If you hate it, we might work a trade. Although I don't really need a 3rd.

Mattie the lc9s is striker fired and eliminated the trigger issues on the lc9. Its got one of the nicer triggers in the class now.

Seek out a private sale (depending on your state) or gunbroker and you won't be risking much if any.

I buy most of mine second hand, so I pay used market price and it's a simple cash transaction and done. When/if I want to sell it off, I haven't ever had an issue getting close to what I paid.

Got a lot more value out of trading though. I have several guns I've gotten from trading that were/are double or greater value than the gun I traded away. In the subcompact singlestacks, I got a Kimber Solo for a Springfield XDs. Got a Springfield EMP for a Sig 238 (plus a bit of 380 ammo.)

For a self defense weapon that will have to be ready to fire almost instantly with very little warning I don't want a safety to prevent the gun from firing. Also would recommend no matter what gun you carry do not carry with an empty chamber, you will waste precious time trying to chamber a round or worst case you never will get a round chambered.
