Jamie Collins to Cleveland for a 3rd round pick?

Makes it difficult to worship the trail of fire you leave in your wake.

Yeah, weird move.....

Both sides. I mean, he's a really good talent that Cleveland could use. But they are rebuilding and the team needs picks not expensive veterans.

Also, the Pats are a threat for a run in the playoffs....maybe they know something or think this is the zenith of his value.

It is not that surprising considering he has done this with a lot of good talent that is entering their free agency off season. What does surprise me is that Cleveland was the partner, there is probably zero chance of him resigning with Cleveland and like said above they could use the picks. Now if they work out a deal to keep him somehow then good move for both sides imo.

well, Cleveland might be able to retain him, not sure of the terms, but whether or not it's tendering an offer or "franchising" him or whatever, I'd guess Bill figured that even if it delays the inevitable for a year or two, it prevents Collins from signing with a potential threat to the Pats like the Steelers or Broncos etc.

The Patriots took their compensation now instead of waiting for the compensatory draft picks. Plus those picks are based on if they lose more than they sign, so they must expect to be active this offseason and spend more than they lose.

^^^ Pete Carroll didn't exactly work out well for the Patriots and I think the Kraft family owned them then but could be wrong.

Agreed, think Carroll was a cheater at USC and juts a lucky sob in Seattle. Actually, guess you have to go back some time now to find a respectable person that coached USC football.

And Wild Bill Belicheck didn't exactly work out well for Cleveland...but somehow everything has lined up for them in NE and despite the constant change of coaches and players he and Brady keep this thing going.

I heard Ron became a pats fan because the logo of the dude in a three point stance made him move a little.

Love these uniforms .........hated this game

As I recall this may have been the first time in my life I looked over at my Grandfather and said "what a bullshit call".

1.It was bullshit

2.It changed the outcome of the game

3.Developed my hatred for inept refs

4.Probably the reason I got tossed from a high school game a couple years later.Playing middle LB'r,ref called pass interference on me,opposing team was attempting to set up a screen, just beyond the line of scrimmage I planted their fullback in the ground.Ball wasn't in the air so I walk up to ref and ask why me knocking the fb's ****** in the dirt is PI.He just looks at me with a blank stare.........I then proceed to tell him what a **** clown he is and all he needs to finish the costume is a bushy wig and a big red nose.Fugger tossed me for "the use of profanity".Well as luck would have it my Coach was a backup Baptist Minister. It was a home game, afterwards I went ahead and started my punishment......finished the first 5 miles about midnight.By Saturday afternoon I had completed all twenty miles. While on the field I never spoke to a ref again........however if looks could kill.

5.Had I a crystal ball I would've whacked Roger Goodell in his sleep as a young child.

love it. great story, very believable from what I think I know about you.

local lore has it that Pat Patriot was named for Patrick Sullivan, son of original AFL franchise owner Billy Sullivan, and later a sort of GM for the franchise. Not a bad guy, Patrick, and the Sullivans were a colorful bunch, but they were in over their heads.

Yet that original Minuteman Logo centering the ball was the single coolest ever.

I heard when Tommyboy retires, they're going to make it a pair of Uggs on the side of the helmet.
