We are falling for C.I.'s marketing ploy; offer fewer lots in "Quickies & Five Packs and we sheep get desperate enough to up our bids. Nothing mysterious about it.

PRICES ARE HORRIBLE HERE ANYMORE. MAY AS WELL GO TO THE OTHER TWO CIGAR AUCTION SITES OR JUST BUY FROM C.I.!

Precisely what they want you to do. This whole thing is a crass commercial ploy to create demand among the sheep and drive up prices. Thanks to so many smug sheep who'll defend their 'drivers', they get away with this transparent grab. Prior to all this, I spent an average of $230 a month. Now, it runs less than $90 and if these guys don't return to the former method of operation, I'll be buying from cigar companies other than C.I and their satellite~ Cbid.

If I had a dollar for every overbidding thread I've seen here, I'd have enough money to afford to do some overbidding myself ...

Ziggy,
Yes, prices are higher than I've ever seen them.............so what.
The alternative is all the etailers simply saying "no mas" to auctions.
Then what?
Be happy that there still are a few deals out there, and score them while you can.
Who knows what the cigar biz will be like when the regs kick in.............might be better..........or.....a lot worse.
And that date is approaching fast.

Its becoming less likely every day that I will ever buy anything here again.
Most of what I did buy here was yard gars and usually for around $20 or less.
All but one have since been discontinued and the one that remains is pushing $40 for a mazo now.
For that same money you can buy a ten pack of really good cigars elsewhere and get fast free shipping to boot.

I do enjoy the forum here, its fun and sometimes even worthwhile ;-)

I, too, have been looking and buying elsewhere. The prices are approaching California's retail prices, even with our high taxes. In addition to the higher prices, the variety and availability has been greatly reduced. It's looking more and more like a manufactured "software crisis". As I have said before, the oil companies have been pulling this stunt with great success for years. They declare a refinery "shutdown for maintenance". Immediately inventories go way down and the pump prices go way up. What a business model.

Just spent a week bidding on CBID and won one item of merchandise and one box/mazo of cigars after bidding on hundreds of auction items. Not worth the time and effort right now when I can buy cigars for about the same or less elsewhere. Some items are now going for twice as much or more than they did in December and January. So far no hiccups on the order processing and hopefully I'll get the shipment on Saturday as usual.
