Spey, the platforms haven't changed at all. Look at history. Why is it thag every time a democrat comes into office for eight years there's always racial tension and predjudice. It's like dems always start something and expect republicans to clean it up. Buchanan (D) came just before Lincoln, JFK/LBJ and Nixon, Clinton and then Bush, Obama then Trump. Every time a democrat gets in office there's some kind of racial outcry, riots happen and the republicans have to go to war in order to keep the whole country together. It's the same thing over and over like a broken record.

Democrats segregate and they use the media to drum up hatespeak but they do it in the thin veil of racial tolerance so it seems like they're always the champions when they're not.

It was the republicans that passed laws allowing blacks to own firearms after the klan who was funded by the democrats werebeating them into the dirt. Once the Klan figured out blacks had the power to defend themselves they backed off. I will never believe not at any point in my life that the klan or nazis will ever be aligned politically with republicans or the right. They're not motivated by the same ideals.

one thing I have not said, shifting the issue to tolerance of free speech is disingenuous.
I am a yuuuge supporter of freedom of speech, a believer that it is meaningless unless pushed to the extreme.

I believe the nazis and their ilk accomplish that test, they spew hatred beyond any intolerance being directed at them.
To use the old "well it takes two to tango" is an irrational way to not just trash those that oppose the nazi message with every cell in their bodies, but to also vaguely legitimize the nazis in a misguided comparison of "they did it too".

This is the enormous error Trump made. Sure, by all means speak to the violence of both sides. Even condemn the anti-protesters for hurting their own cause.

But do not for one minute use that as an equalizer between the philosophies of nazis and anyone who despises their message.

And what the Hell does "Jews will not replace us" even mean? I must have skipped Hebrew School the day they taught us that conspiracy.

im not sure what else he is supposed to say

if it is me i condemn all violence and all hate from all sides and i make no apologies - especially if i have already called the racists out many times over.

he makes a lot of mistakes but the media has disagreed in some way with everything he has done/said from the campaign through when he was sworn in and the media holds power over the masses

i listened to a collage a couple days ago of about 100x trump as denounced bigots like the kkk, david duke, etc from the time he was campaigning to this weekend. yet the media repeatedly asks him the same question over and over and over. they really want to drive that narrative.

i think this was sunday

I think that most people felt that the quote you cite hit the mark. Sure, the haters don't...and many think it should have been said that way a day earlier, but I, for one, thought he was on target and getting it right.

Today, you'll get no such acknowledgement from me. Within 24 hours, he completely wiped out any 'progress' he was making. That quote was straight off a teleprompter....but the next day, without a script, he backed off from it and it was sad.

I'm no shrink, but I believe that he's such an egomaniac that it killed him to have had someone else's words fed to him to try to 'correct' his initial statements. By Tuesday, he couldn't contain himself any longer and needed to revert to his initial message. I still don't think that he's a racist or a supremacists supporter. I do think he's ill qualified to lead the country. Why is he still campaigning? His ego says that he won the election by appealing to certain base issues/concerns and that's where he's comfortable. But, for crissakes, he's the president of ALL Americans and I just don't think he gets that...or doesn't really care. Not sure which is worse.

Good people do not protest with white nationalists, white supremacists, and nazis. I am ashamed of our president.
