I mostly use v-cuts on torpedo shapes and sometimes small rg .

I also like the cut to be made from from to back in orientation to the band and/a box press.

I ask because my buddy just cut my box pressed torpedo parellel with the box press. Was very weird to me.

I have one of those antique small RG V cutters. I like them for stuff that fits.

I haven't used one in some time but could only fit a 54 rg in the one I had (not that I have cigars bigger than that). Didn't think it mattered which way the cut was made as long as I could get the adequate amount of smoke desired.

So far it seems like no one likes a v cut. Next question will be how do u cut your torpedo then? Small, Med, or large cut or on an angle?

I’ve got certain cigars I use a V for, and I carry one with me as a utility cutter should an unexpected smoking opportunity arise. As far as torpedoes, I generally do a medium straight cut, although I don’t smoke a lot of torps or belis.

I have a Xikar V Cut that I haven't decided what cigars I like to use it on yet. It WAS nice on a torp though. I punch cut almost everything anymore.

In regards to orientation when smoking, definitely vertical as it seems like it wants to close when done horizontally, especially once it gets warm and moist...(ha)

In regards to which direction you cut it...who gives a flying........... Not sure how it matters what direction it is in regard to the label. I guess a box press that is overly rectangular would be weird if you turned it so you have it the correct orientation.

I use the V cutter on cigars that I find produce more oily resin than usual. The V cut produces an indented channel that holds the bitter tarry substance and keeps it from my lips and tongue.

Very rare I use one but I have cut an x in the cap to get more volume horizontal for me but most of the time I have ended up cutting across that most of the time I just use a good sharp machete

Use a V cut less than I did years ago, and now only for certain Robustos/Coronas.

I know I will regret this but..

I typically use two types of cuts, V cut and Dick cut. For the Dick cut I will use my Palio to make it.

Got 'em, tried them, tried giving them away.

V-cut 98.2% of the time, guillotine the rest. About a month ago I finally got around to using my Colibri deep V-cutter and for bigger RG cigars (52+), works better than my Xikar VX.
