Had a great day on the fourth.
Thought I was going to have to endure an entire day at the beach. I love the sun and all, but sitting for 6+ hours is not my idea of making memories.
We arrived and a buddy of mine asked "Joe, you want to head out on so-and-so's boat for a quick engine check?"
My wife said "Yes he does".
So I did.
The marina is a bit inland, so you have to navigate slowly (no wake) until you get into the Sound (Nantucket).
At that point, we realize the few roadies we had were dead, so we need to make a packie run. (translation: we ran out of beer and needed to buy more).
But we're on a boat.
So the captain says "We'll pop over the Vineyard and pick up a six.".
Not the only time I've popped over to Martha's Vineyard for some beer, but certainly the quickest. Into Oak Bluffs, get close enough for one of us to jump to shore, buy a 12 of Bud Heavy, and jump back onto the boat to head back.
In hindsight, we shoulda got the whole case.
Hey. It was hot.
And when the wimmen swam out from their beach perch to the boat, they had a couple.
At least that's what I'll claim when asked.
After the fun in the sun, it was a late BBQ at a friends house, and then we were chauffeured by golf cart to a "secret spot" on the golf course to watch the fireworks.
We could see our show, as well as those in nearby Falmouth Heights and out in Vineyard Haven.
Kinda cool.
It's nice to forget about work for a while, and enjoy what we have at home.
I hope y'all had good times as well.
