Trump or someone in his cabinet must have been spouting anti vaxxer bs.

Haven't been following the news a whole lot, been playing too much Apex Legends.

seems there have been 206 cases in US by end of Feb 2019...qualifies as an "outbreak" ... states that have reported cases to CDC are California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington

just a few years ago, measles was presumed to have been eliminated in the US...

There's an irony here.

For the past 2 years, if I remember correctly, BGZ has complained many times about how the "MSM" only focuses on trump and only posts negative articles about trump.

.... then.... CNN posts a bunch of articles about the measles (I believe the specific reason, if you scan them, is because there was a hilarious poetic justice about an anti-vaxxer's kid getting measles or something hilarious like that).... with nothing I saw linking to the trump admin....

.... and BGZ posts a thread complaining that they must be posting it because of the trump admin.

Apparently the wife of some cabinet member is an anti-vaxxer who can't keep her moron mouth shut.

And here I thought CNN was doing articles on the anti -vaxxers because they were endangering there own children and other peoples children needlessly. And they were ridiculing them because there is no scientific evidence to back their claims. Oh, I forgot to add bashing them because they are so dam stupid.

CNN has been reporting on the measles outbreaks before Shine's wife opened her mouth and before the Congressional hearing about the problem.... they ran multiple stories in January and early Feb, before those two events...CDC reported a spike in the numbers for 2018

Ya, but their whole RSS feed was blown up with measles this morning.

That's what I mean by article spam.

Ya, they do run a few off topic articles from time to time, but they don't spam their feed with it unless it somehow relates to sh*tting on Trump.

Even the hurricanes, they don't just report on the hurricanes, they also make sure to slam Trump's energy policies in every article.

Yet another reason for strict enforcement of immigration. Not a decade or so ago, the US had measles all but eradicated, no? It either immigrated, or someone left the country and brought it back.

I figure between those 3 I can get enough variety of opinions on various current topics if I feel like it.

Usually though, if I'm interested in opinions on a topic I'll just come see what you knuckleheads think, and that usually motivates me enough to go back to ignoring the news for a while.

a while ago, bgz and victor found common interest in a thread about the creation of the universe.

I see another potential agreement here, anti-vaxxers being largely made up of people using religion for their refusal...the non-religious refusers are simply citing long ago and often debunked intentionally false scientific "research" to support their stance...

But an argument against based on religious beliefs...I don't understand.

Well, my intent on posting this wasn't to bring awareness to idiots that don't vaccinate their kids, it was more because CNN spammed my feed with measles crap and I made my assessment of why without actually reading any of the articles (and turns out I was right apparently).

Anyway, I find arguing with anti-vaxxers to be on par with arguing with flat earthers, though it might be entertaining for a minute, it's usually easier to save some frustration and just opt out.
