The following is a copy of my last email messages to a customer service rep who denied my claim to an exchange of defective cigars because CigarBid's policy is that they only accept uncut cigars in their individual cellophane wrappers. The cigars have to be in the original condition.

"Shana
I looked at the terms and conditions regarding returns for defective cigars and I didn't see any mention of cigars being uncut and unwrapped. Can you please direct me to where that's written? When we spoke I mentioned to you that over the past 8 months I have purchased over 630 Montecristo White Rothchilde cigars which comes out to approximately 79 cigars a month. I don't smoke that many cigars a month so there is no way that I can go through and find the defective cigars within 30 days "

"Shana

How can I tell if a cigar has a good draw if I don't take it out of the wrapper and cut it. Your policy makes no sense. If that' what you want to stand by then return the cigars and I'll take it up with the manufacturer. Other sellers have always stood by the products they sell. Why should I the consumer pay for something I can't consume due to poor quality control?"

so you've had the cigars for more than 30 days, you grabbed one and cut it, and the draw was too tight?

it's probably your humidor...

if it's not your humidor, it's your crappy selection of cigars...

either way, the fault is yours and not Shana's...

and for the record, I get it... nothing worse than a tight draw on a cigar... except maybe a loose draw... invest in a draw tool and buy My Father La Promesa lanceros...

I think CI may sell an item called the Draw Poker, which helps open the draw on tight cigars. I have one and it works, though one cigar actually exploded it was so tight. Now you say you have purchased over 600 of these cigars in 8 months and this is your first problem ? Now you change your mind about smoking a cigar you already cut and you want to return it. WTF is wrong with you ?

How can you tell if a cigar has a tight draw if you don't take the wrapper off and cut it? I have a cigar poker, paid $45 for it and it doesn't work.

Go to your safe zone snowflake. They call em rules for a reason. A discount online cigar company will not function the same as a brick and mortar shop. Oh, and low class posting on here, we don't GAF about a whiner like you.

Thomas,
I’ll apologize for the rude members of our Forum.
Cigars with tight rolls that don’t draw are absolutely not your fault, and the issue should be addressed properly.
As I’m sure you are aware, the Covid19 situation has resulted in some issues with Customer service in thAt they are too busy to respond properly.
They have however made JadeRose a client liaison to help you with issues such as these.
Just send him a PM, and he will make it right.

Cigar rolling is not an exact science. You're gonna get a defective stick once in a while.

Try the PerfecDraw tool. It's better than a regular poker.

Seconded. The PerfecDraw is great. Works much better than any other such tool I've ever tried. It just oozes quality, too. Supremely well-made.

As mentioned above by BD and Pudding, I just use my PerfecDraw tool. I can empathize with you regarding not getting to cigars till over 30 days out but realistically know that trying to return something after 2-3 or more months would be pretty hard.

Good luck in your efforts though.

Just curious, how many did you smoke before the that tighty whitey?
Based on what I've seen in the auctions, that go for about $4 per stick.
So, after spending about $2500 for 630 cigars, you're upset over 1?

I’ve only smoked a couple of those Monte Whites but both had fairly open draws. I imagine they’d be great for a morning smoke with coffee.

That’s terrible I would be pissed!

Thankfully the owner of CBid is a stand up dude who likes taking care of the forum members here. Don’t normally share this with new guys but give Dave a call!

Given some of the negative comments made, I feel compelled to add additional clarification;

1) Out to the 630 cigars that I purchased ($3,059) over an 8 month period, 100 were sent back to CigarBid all of which had a tight draw.

2) When I first call CigarBid, I told the customer service person that I had unwrapped and punched the cigars and that I set aside all the cigars that were un-smokable because of the tight draw. Again, without unwrapping and cutting the cigar you can’t tell if the cigar a good draw or not. I was told about the 30 day deadline, but I explained that given the number of cigars I purchase a month, it was not possible for me to meet that provision. They did send me a return label and I packaged the 100 cigars and sent them back.

3) I did not ask for my money back or an exchange for a different cigar, just to replace in kind with what I sent back.

4) I’ve been smoking premium cigars for over 30 years so I’m very familiar with what it takes to prep and maintain cigars in storage. I have 2 humidors that can hold over 200 cigars and I actively keep the humidity at 68%

5) I do have a “Perfect Draw Tool. But quite honestly, I don’t really think that it woks that well.

6) I do not blame CigarBid for this issue, it’s the manufacturer that is responsible for quality control. I get it that these cigars are hand made but why should the consumer bare the cost for poor workmanship.

Thomas, why so many of 1 cigar? That's a lot like a 1 trick pony.
