Oh my! It's the Village PEOPLE!!! HERE COMES CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!

In a DECISIVE move, California has come in and swept Texas out of the #2 spot and put themselves within striking distance of Florida and the #1 spot.


Florida is barely holding #1...
California just sprinting in to #2
TX is wallowing at #3
Georgia, the worst state, is still holding on at #4
And Tennessee, not a common top 5 state is managing to hold #5. Good for them, must have been a few bachelorette parties a couple weeks ago.

California just can-not-be-stopped! They aren't just going to beat FL, they are going to PUMMEL them! Oh mah god... I just cannot look!

CA has extended their lead, up to 6,366 cases!
And TEXAS, taking advantage of FL weakness today has pushed on to the #2 spot with 5,632!
FL has been relegated to #3 today, but maybe they'll come back stronger tomorrow.
And AZ taking the #4 slot, and GA (as if we care what they do) at #5. Fluck GA.

the spike in positive tests in many states can be attributed to the masses of people protesting for social equality...at least partially

would've been simple to determine that...

just ask anybody who tested positive, "did you attend any mass public rallies in the past 14 days?"


but we are also pretty sure that some of the spike can be blamed on the numbers of bars, pubs, restaurants with bars, etc that recently re-opened...

Gov has decided to shut down bars in 7 of the counties with highest numbers and recommended to another 6 counties that they should close their bars...our county was one that he recommended, and the county commission voted to do so today

I'm sure some of it is.
But it's important to note that the cities wit the most protesting aren't necessarily represented there.

NYC has been protesting for weeks and is still pretty much on the down-trend.
DC has been protesting a ton.. at best it's flat right now.
Protests in KC.... MO is still pretty flat.
Minnesota hasn't been spiking, and that's where they started.

There's no doubt that a bunch of people protesting in close contact will help the spread. But the current infection locations aren't suggesting that's where the current spike is coming from

Which would explain the younger demographic this time around.... (of course, protests were younger too... but seemed to be in different states)

I'm curious if the currently lower daily deaths will persist, or if we're seeing the lag. Perhaps in a couple weeks deaths may go back up.

We had a bit of an increase here... but given our total cases has been in the 100-200 level, nothing significant.

If KC is going the way of FL/CA etc then we may get some of that fallout.

Do you think it's from the protests there, the bars opening or both? MO has been fully open for what.... 3 weeks now?

It does appear that we have shifted from Sally’s birthday party as the cause to bars. There’s now talk that Los Angeles County may be out of hospital beds in two weeks. LA County bars have only been open 9 days before getting shut down again. Covid-19 appears to really like to get its drink on.

Up here in the Bay Area my county is one of the ones recommended to shut down bars. Weird thing is we never opened bars, gyms, personal services, or indoor dining up here yet we have a spike in cases. We are the slowest counties in the state to open yet we have this spike.

Huh. It’s come up in the news I’ve watched and in conversations at work. We expected it. It’s obvious. It’s not an either or.

Sadly many of the cases are avoidable but we’ve chosen not to avoid them.
