I know a couple that got infected on a cruise in February, took a while to get tested and diagnosed. Both recovered after quite a while but have lingering problems.

Both in their 60's (sorry, that is not old), he is a very strong man, works long hours in the fish business.
Wife is overweight, possibly already had a bit of asthma.

seven months later:

Husband still suffers from headaches and an earache, seems to have balance issues too.

Wife will have lung problems for who knows how long, and has been dealing with a painful raised area on her skull along with alopecia.

Have heard far worse about others but I do not know those people personally.

That's an easy prognostication to make.

Any vaccine that's "ready" by the end of this year is going to have to cut a lot of corners in FDA approval.... a ridiculous number of corners. Enough that I would want to see the actual trial data before injecting it in myself. I seriously doubt you would trust a vaccine that runs through testing that quickly either.

Now don't get me wrong... I'll support anyone else taking it. That'll help create a herd immunity to protect me, and put the risk on them. But I prefer my drugs to be tested.

Given that trump supporters are willing to start taking HCQ, bleach and that other poison the instant he suggests it will work, I have no doubt they'll be willing to take the vaccine.

So yeah... there'll be a split in opinion again. One group that would rather wait until there's scientific evidence that it's safe and effective.... and the republicans.

The problem with that theory is that none of that stuff actually happened. We have to fall back on the science which is Covid-19 disproportionately kills Democrats with pre-existing conditions. This may lead to the Democrats taking the vaccine in high quantities after November 4 and Republicans gain herd immunity by sitting back and watching and planning the inauguration parties.

I have no doubt that trump will try to force a vaccine before the election, not caring if it is safe or effective or if it harms or kills those that take it. I'm with Vic, no vaccine until it goes though the usual trials.

On the bright side, you are all alive. You made it through thanks to the actions and inactions of President Trump.

Maybe we could get all the far left people the completed phase 2.5 trial tested Putin version, and the far right they can’t have it.
