Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Tuesday that 1,000 Georgians voted twice in the state’s June 9 primary, a felony that he said will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

These voters submitted absentee ballots but also voted in person, a problem that happened across 100 Georgia counties, and election officials didn’t catch them in time to keep the second votes from being tallied, Raffensperger announced during a press conference outside the state Capitol.

“A double voter knows exactly what they’re doing, diluting the votes of each and every voter that follows the law,” Raffensperger said. "Those that make the choice to game the system are breaking the law. And as secretary of state, I will not tolerate it.”

It was not immediately clear whether the outcome of any races may have been affected.

Raffensperger said his office’s investigators will hand the findings over to the state attorney general and local district attorneys for possible prosecution. Double voting is a felony that is punishable by one to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000, Raffensperger said.

About 150,000 of the Georgia voters who requested absentee ballots for the June primary later showed up to vote in person, Raffensperger said. One thousand of them ended up casting a second ballot, and his office intends to investigate every case thoroughly, he said.

Raffensperger said his office is working with county election officials to ensure that no double voting happens in the November general election.

yeah...he told his supporters in North Carolina to mail in their ballots, then go to the polls in person on election day and vote again.

Talk about cluelessness or criminal...first, Trump undermines the USPS to cripple mail-in voting, then says it is a fraudulent way to vote, then says he always votes by mail, then tells people to vote by mail and then vote in person....he is definitely a cheat, a fraud and a con-artist...prolly not unique in the history of POTUS, but the first to flagrantly do all these things out in public view

I hope every one of those 1,000 Georgians who voted twice get prison time...

not casting aspersions, but the Gov. who won that election in a close race was the SoS who scrubbed the rolls in effort to suppress the vote...he lost a lawsuit recently that requires him to show his files...

I can understand that, I don't trust mail in voting either. How do you know your vote was counted and didn't end up in a dumpster?

No, the key fact is he told NC voters to break the law. And if you want to try to mitigate that, you might say he told them to "try" to break the law. Which is is straining at gnats to swallow a camel.

"Let them send it in and let them go vote, and if their system’s as good as they say it is they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote," is not "check to see if your vote has been counted".

It's "if their system is good, you won't be able to vote, but if their system is behind you'll get to vote twice"

(note... the system will likely catch this illegal act, but probably a few days after the voting has occurred. The system is secure, but slow)

I guess the system was not as good as they said it was and Trump was right. Some Supervisors of Elections need to be removed.

there were more than 3,939,000 votes cast in Georgia's 2018 elections...

1,000 is a lot...more than the typical handful that have been detected in most past elections...but it is NOT proof of massive fraud...

I am curious to see the party breakdown of the frauds who voted twice, to see if it's one party or both...

I did some recon and there are maybe 10,000 people left in the state, tops. The rest of them have died due to COVID-19 complications. I'm surprised this story hasn't made it to the mainstream news yet.

So we could be lookin' at around 10% voter fraud in Georgia now. Scandalous!
